Rast wins WPT Five Diamonds Super High Roller; Dan Smith leads Main Event final table
22 players registered for the $100k buy-in Super-High-Roller tournament that was part of the (*deep breath and go*) World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic tournament series at the Bellagio.
Even though this was a $100k buy-in event and part of the World Poker Tour, this was not a WPT Alpha8 tournament.
The Results
Only three players would make the money in the tournament, and with the elimination of John-Noel Thorel in 4th place, the over $2 million in prize-money would be divvied up by Brian Rast, Erik Seidel, and Roger Sippl in the following order:
1. Brian Rast — $1,083,500
2. Erik Seidel — $650,100
3. Roger Sippl — $433,400
This marks Brian Rast’s second career seven-figure score according to his Hendon Mob page, and puts his career tournament earnings at $5.7 million – not too shabby for a guy known primarily as a cash game player.
The Five Diamonds Main Event final table
While Rast and Seidel battled for the Super-High-Roller crown the final table of the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic was being decided, and it would be poker pro Dan Smith who would take the chip-lead into Wednesday’s final table.
Here is a look at the final table chip counts and what the remaining six players are fighting for from the www.worldpokertour.com website:
