Full Tilt Poker parts ways with Tom Dwan
Recently Tom Dwan’s picture was removed from the Full Tilt Poker website, and after forum speculation brought the issue to light, Full Tilt Poker has announced that they have parted ways with one-third of their “Professionals” roster, and Tom “durrrr” Dwan is no longer an ambassador at the site.
A spokesman for Full Tilt Poker told PokerLisitngs.com:
“Full Tilt Poker and Tom Dwan have agreed to part ways following the recent expiration of Dwan’s contract,” adding, “To have one of the most respected names in poker on our team has been a great pleasure. We will continue to watch Tom at the tables and wish him every success in the future.”
Dwan’s removal leaves only Viktor “Isildur1” Blom and Gus Hansen as Full Tilt Poker ambassadors, although the site does have a number of ambassadors for specific poker tours.
Possible reasons for the split
Dwan may have made his bones at the online poker tables, and may have been one of the most talked about players in the game for a number of years, thanks to his online exploits, TV appearances, and of course durrrr Challenge matches. But over the past few years Dwan has spent most of his time in Macau, well out of the spotlight, and played only intermittently online.
Another potential reason for the split could be Dwan’s lackadaisical performance at the Full Tilt Poker vs. PokerStars Grudge Match held at the Victoria Casino in London this March, where Dwan was chastised by Daniel Negreanu for showing up late and not being “professional.”
And of course there is the small matter of Dwan’s reputation taking a hit (personally and professionally) due to the snail’s pace his current challenge match versus Daniel Cates is playing out, and Cates repeatedly calling Dwan out for stalling.
