EPT Prague Tournament Series had multiple winners
There were plenty of winners during the recent PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague tournament series, like EPT Prague Main Event champion Julian Track, or High-roller Champion Ivan Soshnikov, but perhaps the biggest winner was a player who didn’t win a single tournament, Stephen Chidwick.
Stephen Chidwick
Chidwick may not have won, but he finished in 3rd place in the Eureka Poker Tour Prague Main Event (the Eureka Poker Tour Prague series was part of the greater EPT series) and 3rd in the EPT Prague Main Event, and in the process took over the #1 spot on the Global Poker Index’s rankings for UK poker players.
Ole Schemion
Another player who will leave Prague with a big smile on his face is Germany’s Ole Schemion. Schemion finished 5th in the EPT Prague Main Event, collecting over $200k in prize-money, and passing Daniel Negreanu for the GPI Player of the Year award –not too bad for someone who isn’t even 21 yet!
Schemion did all of his damage outside of the US –where he isn’t old enough to enter a casino yet—and the young German had a breakout year, and cemented himself as one of poker’s top young talents, without entering a single WSOP tournament. So, all I can say is wait until next year when Schemion can head to Vegas and put his skills on full display.
Prague
Yet another big winner was the tournament series and the city of Prague, which was setting records left and right. The Eureka Poker Tour Prague Main Event attracted a record field of 1,315 players and the EPT Prague Main Event also surpassed 1,000 entries, and thanks to the tournaments €5,000 buy-in set the record for the largest prize-pool for a poker tournament in Czech Republic history.
