But Beav, when has Steve "pushed others over the edge" in the past?
|
Beavis and I disagree on a lot of issues, poker being one of them. I think this is why we work well together and create good discussions. Unfortunately we go to far from time to time.
Almost all of my sarcastic and inflamatory posts are in the non poker discussion section, where they belong. I would never ban someone for their thoughts in this area unless it was a personal attack on another member. That is the place to stir the pot, post nonsense, and let loose.
Look at Puddles and mine recent exchange on soccer, to me it was a fun disagreement, I can't speak for puddles but by his posts I would say he felt the same way. That is where you can get a little out of line, not sidetracking meaningful poker threads.
Just don't get too out of line over there

Definately, I love debates/arguements. I don't hold any animosity towards anyone in such "conversations." Just so long people stay away from personal attacks.

I am dropping out of this conversation.
I don't want it to get personal. I think is silly to temporarily ban the person on this forum with the most posts for posting how he always has.
and I disagree that he sidetracked the thread on BR. I think he brought up the important point that no BR will gaurantee even a profitable player will not go broke.
BR requirements just meet a certain confidance level, and if you maintain that min, there is a chance of going bust that is not unsubstantial.

Your telling me that this whole argument was over a misunderstanding of how long the ban was for? sheesh...
Anyway, now that I just spent the last 30 minutes reading this post I will put my newbie thoughts in.
1. Bonch has always seemed a little arrogant, rude, or whatever you want to call it, ever since I joined this forum. There were a couple of comments that he made that put me on the verge of deciding not to continue posting here. At the same time, I have liked some of his posts the best because he does have a great poker brain. I think he is important to this forum.
2. Lets face it, the mods are being cool just letting us discuss this issue at all. I would understand if they deleted this entire thread, and expected everyone to drop the issue.
3. A 3 day ban seems more than fair to wake someone up to a little problem, no matter how long they have been a member, and it is pretty obvious that there was an issue with Bonch's posting. Not only the Mods think that.
Kudos Beavis for standing up for him though. Being new to internet forums in general, I really like how this one is run. I like that stuff like this can go on, and by the end of the weak, everyone is talking poker again. This is the value of online forums.

this has no validity in deciding to ban a person after 6k posts. We all know he is an interesting dude, but we cant bust him for his style. I guess ppl see him a dude who has been pushing the envelop. Every now and then he makes a minor offence, so after 6k people grow tired of his antics.
Imo if your gunna bust ppl make sure its for a reason that the forum dosnt tolerate. Like spam. Its known you dont tolerate it. Bonch was suspended b/c... his posts are pointless? He hijacks? If this is why hes suspended, dont use him as a tool to get your point across. put it in a thread about posting rules or something b/c this method of setting an example is unclear. I dont even know why he's busted really, maybe its b/c i dont read posts about BR manegment.
Anyway this ^ wasnt any kind of attack. Just practecing for my critical thinking class where we gotta debate tommorow. Kind of pleading bonch's case to the jury.

I have no idea why I put PERMANENT in my post. I knew it was 3-days.
