I do the books a bit during football season...nothing too hardcore though. Most of my sports betting falls more into the "casual wagers with friends" category.

I made more from football than poker this fall/winter. I use BetonSports.com. Very fast withdrawals, prop bets, parlays, and single game spread bets. If you're interested, check it out. If you're looking for advice, I'm willing to share it. The mag that I'm starting won't just have sports betting articles to differentiate from other poker publications, but because I like it and football gambling is actually very proftable if you can manage your money well just like poker.

Obviously, you have more control in poker than in football betting, but you can research hard numbers, not theories and do quite well for yourself. Consequently, BoS.com has just started hosting poker games. Haven't played them yet

    Alex,
You mostly bet NFL or CFB or both? Spreads too? Just wondering, cuz I usually play the moneylines in the NFL. So many dogs get up in the NFL.

Betfair is a really good site. People set your own prices. Which in turn, like poker, you get a bunch of fools on there, and people suck them out.

I'm not old enough so I wouldn't know, but I would ASSume that CFB would be more profitable. Sure, "upsets," could be more likely, but the talent level in the NFL games is less spread out than it is in college. I mean, NFL teams all have NFL quality players, while different colleges vary in size, scholarships, and location(very key).

Kind of O/T, but I figured I would bring it up.

Horses, I could never gamble on.

Horses, Im terrible at. I have a couple processes to break them down, given to me from a ponies-guy, but I havent used it yet. Pretty basic stuff, not sure if it works.

CFB can be more profitable, you really have to known the players because they keep on changing. My guess is most NFL spreads are within 6.5 pts, giving the dog a shot at pulling the upset.

CFB is definitely more profitable (or has the possibility for greater profit) than the NFL in my opinion. Betting on the NFL draws way more money last I heard so the linesmakers focus there first when fixing odds. Plus, the sheer number of CFB games allows for more inaccuracies to occur when fixing the line...everyone hears if there's a starting lineup change for the Indianapolis Colts, very few people realize if Texas-El Paso has to start five reserve players because of a viral outbreak or something. Little stuff like this sometimes flies below the radar on CFB lines and waits to be discovered during the season.

Couldn't agree with ya more, just depends on how you work it. Picking spreads and picking ml's are completely different. In some instances, I can win 1 out of 3 ml's and still turn a profit, while on spreads, I need 2 out of 3.
