Anyone else view the winter olympics as something like diet olympics?
The summer olympics are like coca cola and the winter games are like stop and shop brand.

i get it on BRavo, NBC, CNBC, etc... so watching all 3 you can get coverage of the less poupular sports.
No hype this year though, (unlike Salt lake and Australia). maybe securety reasons. Looking forward to the down hill skiing and snowboard. I agree summer is better though.I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

When I was a kid, I thought the winter games ruled over the summer. Not so anymore. I think that's because I thought the luge was freakin' sweet in the old days. Now it's cool, but really not all that entertaining.
Yes, diet olympics is a good term. But I will probably watch a lot of it because the NHL is shut down for them, and that is pretty much my only sports viewing pleasure this time of year. So I got nothing else to watch if I want some sports.

Winter Olympics have less value these days, because Winter X Games are so much better for entertainment value.

Its almost like the Ku Klux Klan olympics, there are maybe 10 black guys in the whole thing. The sports not only favor northern countries but also the super rich. Most of the sports are extremely expensive to compete in.
The Summer olympics have swimming and track events which are just flat out great to watch, Gymnastics which somehow amazes me but only every 4 years, and the great team sports that the whole world competes in Basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc. And then throw in the greatest sport ever BEACH VOLLEYBALL! there is always something cool happening in the summer games hell even table tennis is a pretty good watch.
All the winter games have are races where people go individually, which is absolutely anticlimactic. Seeing them toe to toe is what makes track and swimming so great. For instance right now I'm watching 25 idiots cross country skiing. They also have figure skating which is painful to watch. its like ballroom dancing. The winter olympics are absolute crapRead my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

At minimum it is the worlds greatest spectator sport, the female version, that is.
