    Default chess >< poker relationship

I've noticed that quite a few poker players either are or used to
be active chess players , does any1 else notice this ?
I used to be quite an active chess player (online and cc ) but gave it
a break and started playing poker, I must say I find poker to be much
easier than chess ..... (probably some who disaggree on that) .
I wonder how many on this forum are/were chess players ??

Yeah, I used to play chess back in the day. I was pretty into it and borrowed chess books from the library. But it got too boring. I enjoy the luck factor in poker. Also, I'm a pretty good player in Magic The Gathering, which combines chess and poker imo.

I haven't tried Backgammon yet , I thought it was luck (dice throwing) but I have
been told there's some stratergy to it ....
I think poker may well "fit" my character since my chess isn't that "solid" , I play well (chess)
in the beginning and when things start to go bad I usually go into "suicide" mode and some
highly charged and dynamic positions usually result ..
NLholdem seems very similar to me ..viz the 1st 15 or so levels (pc game poker) are
usually steady affairs for me , then from this point on comes a very tense affair with a lot
of huge bets and general all-ins as I pass level 21 / 22 etc... seems to work though ...
I'm still waiting for more consistent results before I decide on my "normal" stratergy ....
