Where does he rank among:
Iverson, Shaq, LeBron, KG, McGrady, Kobe, Pierce, Nowitzki, A. Stoudemire, D. Wade, Carter, Arenas, Duncan in your opinion? State the players you feel are in front of him.
I'd have to put him right behind AI, Shaq, LeBron, and McGrady. No one else. I'd put Pierce and D. Wade is the same boat. Is Ray Allen a Top 5 player? I've thought so for a long time and have been a huge fan of his since his UConn days and then up in Milwaukee where his stats were hurt a bit being the #2 man behind Glenn Robinson.

He's just shy of Gretzky and Lemuiex. Actually a lot shy. Betcha he can't even skate.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

6-10
Iverson, Shaq, Wade(OK, so I'm biased), Stoudemire, LeBron
I am also a huge fan of Allen, and he was my first pick in my NBA Fantasy league.

I would put him in the 15-30 range
Plus's
Great shooter
good size for a 2 guard
good at creating his own shot
negative's
Not much of a defensive player
A little on the slow side
Honestly 2 guards are a dime a dozen, if a guy can shoot he can put up 20 a game. think Hersey hawkins, Dana Barros, even back to Adrian Dantley/Bernard King days. However if you want to win you need to do more than shoot.
Great player not a hall of famer, if you are one of the 20 best players of your time your in the hall, Ray isn't.
Jason Kidd
Shaq
Duncan
Nowitski
Pierce
Lebron
Kobe
McGrady
Garnett
Amare Stoudemire
Jermaine O'neal
Marbury
Carmello
and thats off the top of my head
Gilbert Arenas actually has better stats than Ray. Basically he's a nice fantasy player but if i were starting a team from scratch he would be around 20-25 on my wish list. If you didn't get him he can be replaced by cuttino mobley, michael redd, jason richardson, etc. without losing much at allRead my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

Yeah...he made winning the free throw percentage category a lot easier. I'd put him in the 6-10 range. I think I got him in round 2 of our draft on the snake-back but I'm thinking he'd go round 1 now.

I see where you're coming from, Steve. I think 1,2,and 3 are pretty obvious with AI, Shaq, and LeBron. The next 17-23 are pretty up in the air and arbitrary. I wouldn't put Jason Kidd ahead of Allen, though and there's a big difference between being a go to guy like Michael Redd, Corey Maggette, (who grew up a couple of blocks from me in Oak Park, IL, BTW) and Damon Stoudamire in his Raptors days on a bad team and being the go to guy on a playoff team.
If Rasheed Wallace were on the Bucks, he's a 23-24 PPG guy, but he's always been on very talented teams. I would take Ray Allen over Kobe.
With regards to PG's, I like Kidd, but there are two PG's not on your list that'd I take over Kidd RIGHT now- Chauncey Billups and Steve Nash. Billups won the championship and he's gotta be in my Top 15.

Reggie Miller has a 3-point record that might never be broken and has never won a championship, but has a lot of HUGE playoff moments. He has the most career points scored with an PPG under 20. What differentiates Allen from Miller in the mid 90's? Isn't Miller a Hall of Famer? Or is he not?
Allen is Miller with less 3 point #'s in a more physical day of the game, not very fast like Miller, but much more agile driving from the foul line to the basket, and can handle the ball whereas Miller was a catch n' shoot guy.
I'm not saying that he's Scottie Pippen or anything, but Allen's an underrated defensive player. He grabs 3.5-4 Def Rebs. per game and always finishes with 80-100 steals per season. His short playoff career is pretty electric. I think his leadership and clutch abilities have to bump him up, IMO.

If I'm a general manager here is my dream team
C - Shaq, by far the most dominating player and he plays the most important position
PF - Nowitski, closest thing to Larry Bird I've ever seen
SF/swingman - Lebron, great talent and a team player
SG - Kobe, take away all the nonsense the guy can flat out get the ball in the basket from anywhere on the court
PG - Jason Kidd, at this position he is the best defensively and right up there with nash with ball control and passing. despite poor numbers he is also quite a clutch shooter
second team
Duncan
Garnett
McGrady
Wade
Nash
there are only 2 guys on your initial list I would take Ray Allen over, Iverson and Carter
My main point is, considering every position the 2 guard is the least important and most interchangeable. Give me Redd, Mobley, Maggette, Richardson, Arenas, or Ray Allen and I'll get the same production
You can't replace what Kidd, Nash, Shaq, Duncan, Lebron, Nowitski, etc mean to their team
I may be looking at this differently than some of you having played high level basketball and also coaching.Read my musings on poker and life at Online Poker Examiner, Poker Examiner, PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

one stat i would like to see the NBA keep is how many points the player you are guarding scores.I'm not saying that he's Scottie Pippen or anything, but Allen's an underrated defensive player. He grabs 3.5-4 Def Rebs. per game and always finishes with 80-100 steals per season. His short playoff career is pretty electric. I think his leadership and clutch abilities have to bump him up, IMO.
100 steals is average, he has less than .5 blocks per game and 1 steal per game.
