Kitna throws 4000 yards in Martz's system. Martz makes QBs and makes WRs. Where as these 3 guys you speak of that would be #1s on other teams?
Moss? Well obviously. But who the fuck knows with him.
Stallworth? Worked OK in Philly but that was because of need.
Welker? What? That makes Furrey a legit #1.
Caldwell? Yup, he's really shined when given the opportunity.

The NFL is a piece of shit league. I said before this last season on this very message board that the parity in the NFL was an illusion to cover up the fact that expansion has depleted the quality of play.
Welker caught 65+ balls with close to 700 yards in a by committee receiving corp last year. Look around the NFL. Put him on BAL, PIT, CLE, KC, SF, CHI, or MIN, just to name a couple and he's the #1 WR on the club. I'm not saying that Welker and Stallworth are great. I'm saying that the NFL's so bad that besides Indy, there's no question that NE is gonna have the most yards in the air.
Don't even tell me about Detroit's pass game potential. That's as tired as discussing the Cubs starting pitching was a year ago. Instead of "watch out," it's "show us and until then, you're busts."

Ummm...Detroit did prove it. They were a top 5 passing offense last season. Furrey had 98 receptions for over 1000 yards.
And there's no way the Pats outpass New Orleans, either. I can't believe I left them off of it. Fact is, Brady just isn't a 4000/30 guy. He's a winner, best in the game, but he won't outproduce Manning, Palmer, Brees, or Bulger.
Welker would be #3 on BAL behind Clayton, Mason, and probably #4 behind Oregon 2nd year man Demetrius Williams.
SF has Darrell Jackson now, thankyouverymuch
Wes Welker over Hines Ward??? Wes Welker over Nate Washington??? Wes Welker over Santonio Holmes??? HAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAAHAH
The ONLY reason Welker had that OK season is BECAUSE he was in a committee. People focused on McMichael and Chambers. He'd never EVER make it as a #1. Not at 5'9" 185 lbs.
I want some of everything everyone is on.
This discussion is getting ridiculous now.

I never said Welker was a great player, I said he had a great year last year, he started off as the #3 receiver behind Chambers and Brooker but ended up #1 through superior numbers. However, I think this is all irrelevant as he will probably be the Pats kick returner and either their #3 or #4 receiver.

I missed the Jackson acquisition during Draft day because I refuse to watch drafts. Either way, Jackson's production with Alex Smith in SF won't be much greater than Welker's in Miami. He'll have less receptions, get around the same amount of yards and score more touchdowns as a "go to guy."
Ward's too small to conquer age. By the end of the year, he'll look like an overplayed Slot Man. Holmes can't catch in traffic and he never will.
As for Detroit, I compare their passing game to the Cubs pitching because they did well for a year, but they're depending on time bombs. If you think Kitna can throw 600 passes and have less than 30 INT's at his age like he did last year, you're crazy. That'll lower their ToP which'll lower the amount of plays they can run and less times throw Williams the ball. Williams'll be doggin' it by Week 9. I remember Jeff Blake making Carl Pickens look like Jerry Rice one year. Or to get closer to the discussion, Scott Mitchell and Herman Moore.
There's still no reason to believe that the Colts and Pats aren't #1 and #1A in the NFL going into the season when before these pickups they were the 3rd or 4th best in the AFC behind San Diego and Baltimore.

I disagree with your assessment of the Niners, alex.
SF playoff chance: 70%
Jackson, if healthy, will be good for 70-80 rec, 900+ yards, 7-9 TD
BANK IT!

Obviously very few people on here know footbALL.
oF COURSE dETROIT, aRIZONA AND ANY OTHER 500 CLUB IS GOING TO HAVE BIG PASSING NUMBERS. tHEY SUCK AND ARE DOWN LATE AND CONTINUALLY THROW THE BALL. aT THE SAME TIME THE DEFENSE IS JUST GIVING UP 15 YARD PATTERNS ALL DAY.
Do you really think without manning Wayne and Harrison are gonna put up those numbers????
Believe me Moss is going to catch a lot of balls from Brady, as is Stallworth. And you don't give a returner the deal they gave welker. Get over the fact he's short and white, the guy is a football player.
You can put up those career stats all you want. Apparantly people can't improve or be under utilized by teams. Caldwell proved he can be a #2 receiver last season, and Gaffney given an opportunity showed he is a #4 or #5.
I'd like to see the defense that lines up against Moss, Stallworth, Ben Watson, Welker, and Caldwell in an empty backfield set.
NE had a strong offense last season with Gaffney and Caldwell. Every Analyst agrees they're now one of the top receiving corps in the league.
Guys Moss is only 30. He took a huge paycut that is incentive laden to go to NE. Do you think he's gonna be the Oakland Moss (which in itself would be an upgrade from the Pats of last year)

I just love how people believe the addition of Moss is going to drastically change the way Belichick coaches a game.
NE will continue to be primarily run and defense. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
And Moss signed a one year tender. So he's not some saving grace.

Im not saying Brady isn't a top 5 QB. He's a great producer.
I'm not saying Randy Moss doesn't have the ability to get back to his Minnesota #'s.
I like Stallworth, he proved his worth in Philly as a deep threat. He just can't stay healthy.
Yes the New England passing game IS greatly improved.
But this whole argument is about the men behind those two...which the fact remains, are still all underachievers and have proven NOTHING.

Aight; I don't follow football closely, I just bet $ on it
Now I will say in respect to the moss deal: That was a great pickup IMO. The reason it was great was Moss agreed to play for 3 million. IMO this is saying he is dedicated to the Pats, he proly could have gotten more $ else where, but instead he took the pay cut to play w/ the pats.
Furthermore, I dont feel any of the extra bagae will be there b/c look at corrie dillon. The guys who play for the pats know this is an organization you respect.
As for the rest of the receivers, IDK enough to comment.
