I thought Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypien, Trent Dilfer, Kurt Warner, Jake Delhomme, Chris Miller, Neil O' Donnell, Stan Humphries, and Rich Gannon already proved that.
No quarterback's ever won or lost a Super Bowl I've seen. If you don't run the football and let the other team run all over you, you lose and that's every Super Bowl I can remember.

Dont forget to add Doug Williams.
I disagree. I would have to Joe Montana in Super Bowl 16 won it for the 9ers. Would also have to McNabb lost it for the Eagles in 39.

When a QB needs to step up it's because the other team's controlling the ball with the run. I've seen Montana's comeback against the Bengals, but still, it's not this ESPN-highlight-reel type of winning the game with bombing the opposition into oblivion. The game plan won with variation and that plan was spreading the ball around the field in the flats and with quick slants. McNabb played a brutal Super Bowl, but the Eagles' D-line and Linebackers might as well have stayed home like the Bears tonight.
My point's that if the QB is a factor in whether you win or lose a Super Bowl, your problem isn't the QB. Colts had the bal for like the last 10 minutes of the 1st half, then the 1st 5 minutes of the 2nd. Bears finally get the ball back, pass for 9 on 1st Down. OK. 2nd and 1, you call a pass play? WTF? You've been off the field for an hour and you call a pass play on 2nd and 1 in a 16-14 game? Ron Turner's a fraud. He set the Illinois CFB program back 10 years and as long as he's in Chicago, we'll continue to look clueless on offense BECAUSE THERE'S NO PLAN! NO PLAN AGAINST A TEAM WITH THE WORST RUN DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE?!!! Did Ron Turner blink when TJ ran a 52 yarder to set up the TD pass to Moose? That's it... I just figured it out. Sign me up for a job. RUN TO SET UP THE PASS!!!! You learn that shit in POP Warner for God's sake.

St Louis hardly didnt run the ball much in 34, I think Faulk had about 50 yards.
But yes if the Bears couldnt run the ball, no way Grossman can carry the team.

I agree with you that the play selection of the Bears OC have been awful, I agree that Grossman did'nt had the ball long enough in the game, but Grossman has thrown 2 interceptions and fumbles the ball twice (for no apparent reasons) for 4 turnovers!!!!
I'm not saying he lost the entire game by himself, but close!!!!
That said this team definitely needs a new OC but also probably a new QB!!!
A little more speed at the WR position would be good too IMO. Muhamad has fantastic hands, have a lot of experience, but don't have the speed to create separation. Berrian has the speed, but wouldnt be a starter in more than half of the NFL teams!

Joe can thank Jerry Rice for breaking a few tackles on that third and forever play.
A quarterback is like a starting hand: you can win every now and then with a shitty one, and a good one doesn't guarantee you're going to win.
You need all the pieces of the puzzle to fall into place in football.

2 factors for the colts defense looking stellar in the playoffs
1) The colts got run on after Sanders went down. They had to stop crowding the line. simply put, with sanders they can put 7 or 8 in the box, with 1 safety over the top; without him they play a base cover 2.
2) look at the teams they played in the playoffs, KC, Baltimore, NE, and Da Bears. not one of those teams has a potent passing attack. the colts simply stacked the line or run blitzed every down!!! If they had to play San Diego which has a 2 dimensional offense their defenses weak links would have shown up. they played great running attack teams but, if you can stack the line and ONLY play run you'll stop it.
thats the reason NE fell short this year, they were a 1 dimensional offense; run, run, short pass, run, short pass. If you stacked the line or relentlessly blitzed them they had trouble on offense.

Kurt Warner, and Rich Gannon both had great seasons. IDK if they were during their super bowl season, but both had like a year or two minimum where they were among the best; maybe not as many in a row, but kinda like the few seasons Drew Brees had recently.
