Default While we have our basketball shorts on: PG's

I like Steve Nash, but '06 MVP? No. Yes, it's most valuable, but everyone makes the playoffs in the NBA and similar, not the same but similar arguments can be made for Elton Brand, Michael Redd, Mike Bibby, Pau Gasol, Jermaine O'Neal, Gilbert Arenas, and yes oh yes Lebron, Kobe, and Lebron).

Everyone's one this Steve Nash love fest. They're calling him the best point guard in the NBA. What?!!!! The same Steve Nash that's old team is in the finals because Nash can't... what's that called, oh yeah, DEFENSE?! The same Steve Nash that get schooled on a nightly basis by Sam Cassell and Shaun Livingston and Smush Parker. SMUSH PARKER?!!!

Anyway, who are your Top 5 Point Guards in the current NBA. For this discussion, Iverson and Wade are 2guards. AI's my favorite player, but that team sucks. The best player he's had to pass to was Jerry Stackhouse for 2 years and he avg'd. about 7 asts. in those years.

Anywho, who you got in the Top 5:

    Me:
    1.) Chauncey Billups
    2.) Tony Parker
    3.) Gilbert Arenas
    4.) Steve Nash
5.) Baron Davis (would be #1 if he wasn't such a douchebag)

I love Jason Kidd, and he can still ball, but that defense along with that jumpshot is just horrendous. He drives hard to the hole, but he can't hit free-throws anymore. It's not lookin' too good IMO. And Chris Paul is climbing up like the girl in The Ring who's name I can't spell.

Admittedly I didn't watch much NBA basketball during the regular season, however, that is a different story during the playoffs. One of the games I managed to view was game 6 of the mavs/suns series.

I don't know if he just had a bad game or what, but he looked scared, timid, and afraid to do anything with the ball except dribble around and make terrible mustard on the hot dog style passes.

From just viewing the playoffs I'd give MVP to LeBron anyday over Nash.
Bean181818: some guy came up just grabbed my hand and starting massaging it, since it wasn't you, i told him to fuck off
xcrunman02: yeah only I can do that, i don't need some gook trying to get with my life partner
    Bean181818: i've been faithful
    xcrunman02: me too
Bean181818: peck tried to get all this but i told him this was all taken, all of it!

If you consider AI a 2-guard, you gotta consider Arenas the same.

    1) Steve Nash (but he is overrated)
    2) Chauncy Billips
    3) Tony Parker
    4) Chris Paul
    5) Jason Kidd
    6) Mike Bibby
    7) Baron Davis
    8) Kirk Hinrich
    9) Andre Miller
    10) Sam Cassell

Honorable Mention: Jason Terry, Shaun Livingston, TJ Ford and Earl Boynkins

Great call on The TJ Ford. I'm a big fan of the TJ. He, like any good PG has a ton of heart. That was one of the more gruesome basketball injuries I've ever seen in my life. Jason Terry on my list a bit ahead of Chris Paul in that "climbing fast" group. Shaun Livingston is gonna be a star. He's gonna the true PG that Penny Hardaway should've been. Besides Pippen and Jordan, Penny was my guy.

I love Sam Cassell, but he's going down and going down fast. Smush Parker and a geriatric Cassell proved my 5 year old Nash argument that he spends more time playing with his hair and waiting for the ball than playing defense. For that, I hate having him in my Top 5. But offensively, he's too good to leave off.

I would take Hinrich right now over Kidd right now. Jason Kidd looks atrocious now.

I say that about AI, not because he's the prime scorer, but because he has no options. Arenas has options to run plays with and Jayson Williams/Gary Payton are the PG's for the Heat. In a couple of years, I think AI will be a 22PPG and 8 APG guy because Iguodala can be a stud if he takes his head out of his ass.

There is a defferance between sheer tallent, and what that tallent means to the team. This allows players w/ less skill to be named MVP, b/c what they bring to the team may be more important than what the other more skilled players bring to their team.

I guess id like to call kobe, lebron and wade point guards, but they are more like SGs. So, those would be my top 3 guards.

    other top guards;
    1. Gilbert Arenas
    2. Steve Nash
    3. Chauncy BIllups
    4. Jason Kid
    4. Stephon Marbury (when he has good games)
I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

When Mr. Head is removed from Mr. Ass Stephon Marbury is in my top 5 and Nash is out. Talent doesn't prevent teams from winning. It never has. Assholes prevent their team from winning.

No one is better than Lebron and if you're gonna tell me that Nash was more valuable to his team than Lebron, take a good look at Nash's old team with Nash and look at them now. I convinced that Nash refuses to play defense. I've never seen a point guard get so many minutes and be so lazy on half of the floor.
