I was shocked that he got his 2,000th hit. I know he doesn't walk a lot and I see him hitting .310-.320 a lot, but it just surprised me. I didn't think he was very old.
A-Rod's 440HR is pretty evident to where he'll end up on the HR list, as he's only 30!!! (will be 31 in July) But Jeter will only be 32 in June. I'm not saying he'll hit 4,000, but...
While were talking about Hank Aaron, Hank is 3rd on the all-time hits list as 3,771, more or less. What have been your thoughts on Jeter? I've always thought that he was overrated, not to his fault, but the media's and this has turned me off from him.
But I'm starting to take notice of Jeter before October. Never thought I'd do that.

Hard to callhim overrated. 4 rings, and he is the youngest player to 2000 hits in well over 30 years.
Most who jump on the bash derek bandwagon are just yankee haters.
4000 would be tough.....he'd have to avg 200 a year until he was 41. im guessing 3300-3500 when all is said and done....and a 1st ballot entry into Hall of Fame.

3000 is tough to get to, you have to stay healthy and productive. Gebnerally, players just decline around that 3,000 mark, he'll be lucky to get 3K with 3,500 being his max. To pass hank he'll need to avg 150 hits for 12 years or so, doubtful

Lucky to get 3k? 125 hits per yr til he's 40 and he's got 3k. I just figure he has another 3 200 hit yrs. in him hitting in that lineup with Giambi, A-Rod, Sheffield, and Matsui. He never walks. He always gets pitches as long as A-Rod keeps hitting. Matsui's got some years in that lineup ahead as well.
Here's the year-by-year:

Again, you never know how long he'll play, but he'll hit for a long time.

maybe not, but Georgie will always keep good bats in the lineup. DJ gets to 3000 in 6 yrs (avg 180 per yr) which makes him 36. From there it all depends on how long he wants to play....he's not a DH type, so its SS or nothing.....I doubt he goes beyond 38.

He will reach 3K hits wich is a very impressive achivement, but I cant see him play more than 6-8 more years.
With 8 years it brings him at 3700 avegin 200 hit a year. Of course he still have a few 200 hits season in front of him, but cant see him do it every years...
