    Default Ax Suited Help.

    Hello,

First, just want to say this is a great site, and I have learned a lot from all of you.

    With that...

I'm having problems with Ax suited, I can't seem to play them correctly. Any advice?

If you want a specific situation, A9s in middle position. Would you limp in pre-flop and fold if you don't make anything on the flop?

    Thanks

    Default Axs

In NL Axs x<T - Fold:

Axs x>T - you could write a book on this. Depends on table, position, reputation
See me playing $10/$20NL like it was play money

    Limit advice only,

Honestly I find AXs to be such a minimal winner and I won't play it unless I can get in for 1 bet with 5+ opponents. Less than 5 I'm a slight winner/loser with AXs.

Possibly the most overrated/overplayed hand in Limit Hold Em?

Whether limit on NL, you need loose passive players.

Limit, you want to see 5 people to each flop, and you need to be able to dump it if you only flop top pair and get too much heat.

NL, you need players that don't put in a lot of big raises, and players that will pay you off.

I admit I have a weakness for them in Limit, not sure why. I do find them to be a winner, but not as great as most people think, you really need alot of people in the pot.

You also need the discipline to let them go when an A hits on the board.

Does that include AJs - AKs?

I guess I liked that rare flush flop. But luckily I realized staying in with these hands was costing me money.

You must be talking about a long handed game cuz short handed play is a whole different story. I thought it was very well known that A,9off or less was pretty much unplayable other than in the BB in a long handed game? As for A,xs then A,9s is decent and only gets better the higher the kicker. Again in a short handed game A,xs is playable from anywhere except maybe UTG IMO. I could be wrong, what do all of you PT guys see with this?

Before adjusting BECAUSE of my PT stats I was losing with all AXs from A2-AT with A9 and AT being my 2 biggest losers. Thats right ATs and A9s were my 2 biggest losers.

This was a leak in my game that I was completely unaware of. Like most everyone I felt I was winning with them PT changed my mind of this and I plugged the leak.

Really? I noticed since I have been using PT that ATs and A9s were also my biggest losers. I figured it was because I only have 3k hands or so in it.

I was starting to wonder about it myself, I do alot better with A2s-A6s I guess that is because I realise hitting an A means that I will most likely fold, however the 10 seems like a decent kicker so I probably over-play it.

I tended to fold A4s a lot more than A9s and ATs pre-flop in addition to continuing on with ATs and A9s post-flop more often.

Folding more pre-flop with these hands I got them over to the + side fairly quickly, I think my VPIP with ATs was 90% before I adjusted now it's around 65%. Now I only play it in a very multiway pot or if I can open-raise or isolate a lone loose opponent with it. I also don't touch this hand in a raised pot unless there are a boatload of players already in.
