Hi im a newbie here would just like to know what you guys thought of these two hands the first one i think i played near perfectly but just got unlucky (majorly), set mining in first stages of mtt, the hands say its 9 max but they are 90 man mtt early stages.

    Sucks i know lol.

Just wanting to know how you guys combat being sucked out on like this similar thing happened a few days ago was in top 100 chipstacks after bubble in a 6k players tournament field 500 people left all in with AA, QQ, AK first two allin preflop against 2 outer lower pockets and both caught the two outers and seems to affect my game after these suckouts.

this leads me to my next tourny after the hand i posted above, not the best hand paired with the board but was sure i was beaten only to be shown arag by both players arrrghhhh.

This is a farcry from what usually happens, im usually mega lucky/hitting flops left right and centre in the early stages and variance kicks in in later stages and lose the all ins at the later stages like going out with ak to a3 in 10th place lol.

What strategy do you guys best implore for mtt's, play loose agressive in opening stages to build up a big stack for final table, or tag and employ smallstack coinflips in later stages?

The first hand -- I don't call with the 66s. You're not getting a good enough price, and chances are your crushed. In fact, with the big blind being so short, I'm not a huge fan of setmining anyway. I probably still do, considering our position -- but if I was in LP and it was folded to me, I probably wouldn't bother.

The second hand -- I don't check the flop with top pair. There are a lot of hands to get value from, and I'm perfectly happy taking the pot down right away too. I'm going to bet for value, and it's going to be damn near pot. I don't like checking the turn either -- again, tons of draws out there. I'd bet for value, as any combo draw is getting it in, as well as weak top pair or 2nd pairs.

From the second hand it looks like you play your hands passively. I'd work on that myself. In regards to these MTTs, I play tight(er) early on and loosen up as the tournament progresses, especially when antes kick in.

I made a couple videos a week or so ago. You might find them helpful:

When it's raised to 60, then BB raises to 305.00 and is all-in, you should know 66 are at BEST in a coinflip. Fold prelop and wait for a better spot.

As above, easy fold on the 66 pf and then a horrible low bet from UTG on the flop and an equally poor call from yourself. If you had raised properly on the flop, you might have gotten rid of the button but otherwise he saw massive weakness with your bets and whilst we know he was beaten, he rightfully though he probably had the best hand. Still his all in bet was silly as it certainly wasn't amazing but a lot of weak players shove with aces.

UTG seems like he wouldn't have folded to your raise anyway so you would have won his stack potentially if you'd raised. Still, the donkey all in push from the button might have still gone ahead if you'd raised anyway so lots of places in this hand for you to lose your cash. Best way to avoid it is to fold PF out of position.
