The villain played that like he's got a 9, or maybe KK/QQ, lol -- I'm curious to see what he's got.
In regards to how you played it, I shove preflop. When he makes it 400 chips, there is then 700 in the pot which makes up 33% of your stack. It's pretty super standard shove I think, given that you don't think his range only consists of AA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,AQ,AJ or something. With his stack size, and the rest of you guys, I bet he's wider. I'd find out myself
The other thing to think about is that you have about 10 big blinds, which means you should be shoving this hand yourself if you were first to open (there is some room to raise / fold, but not at these stakes imo).
Between those two reasons, a shove is best in my opinion. As played post, I think it's fine.
