Should I have played this differently given that I was facing another big stack or was I destined to lose money here?

KK running into aces. I would have placed him on a busted flush draw. Nothing you could've done about it.

Yeah, other than a slightly larger flop bet, you played it fine.
Maybe, just maybe though, you might have been able to sniff something out. Your stats on him list him as Laggy, so this cold calling crap might have sent off a few alarms. Unless you had a read on him cold calling like that.
But I think with table image, I think he totally dropped the ball, and you should have been stacked. If he re-raises this preflop or flop, then there's no way you don't come over the top on him. That board is as scary to him as it is you. He really screwed up by not getting all your chips into the middle earlier.
He's got a bad case of CPS (cute play syndrome). Watch out for him getting cutsey like this in the future.
Edit: sigh.... old bumps FTLMarm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.
Luck is a Residue of Design.

I actually like the flop bet. We have KK on a J high flop against an aggressive player so I'm thinking we're miles ahead here and would like to put out a bet that could entice him to come over the top.
Along with that, no matter who we're against and without knowing the results, we're likely miles ahead and we dont want to be scaring off anything.
Apart from that, make a note on him and unlucky. For the best rakeback rates, greatest choice of poker rooms, more promotions, tournaments and bigger $$$ freerolls than any other rakeback affiliate, visit RakeTheRake, one of the largest and most reputable poker rakeback affiliates in the world.
