Playing a mtt at the venetian in vegas. 120 players. 120 buy in. About two hours into the tournament, antes 75, blinds 400/800. I have right at the chip average. People are at the point of raising to take the blinds and antes. I am in late position with Kc 7c, noone raised and noone looked interested. I raised it to 1600. Only one person called, it was a person I had taken for chips a few hands before. He was skeptical about calling, put him on a not so strong hand. Flop comes out Jc, 3h, 10c and Im first to act. You can see what I have, and I figured if I checked he was betting no matter what. I bet half my stack, 4500. He pushed all in. At this point I figures maybe he had ace jack, or ace ten, and I could get the king or the flush. I called. He had Jack ten. I even got the king on fourth street but no flush. This has been bugging me, where did I go wrong? Or was it just bad luck for me that he got the two pair. I already know K 7 suited isnt a strong hand, but anyone knows you cant only play premium hands or you will get sniffed out.

Reconstructing from the action, it sounds like you had about 10.5k preflop? If you were on the button and it folds to you with that stack, I'd go all-in. Any other position just fold.

The mistake was the size of your preflop raise. Almost any hand can call with those odds, especially the blinds.

Jam or fold I think are your only options here. Raise/folding is no good, so if you are gonna raise, put it all in!
