It seemed like he was playing with me when he bet barely more than my stack when he clearly had more...maybe I'm wrong but I pretty much instantly called when I saw what he bet.

I think you are reading too much into the bet size, doesn't mean the call is deffinately bad but it's not good without knowing something about villain.

You only had 12 BB so this should have been a shove/fold preflop. Fold is preferable - A10 is bad UTG since you almost always only get called by a better hand and there are 7 players left to act. Fold and wait for a decent hand in mid/late position to shove, you can wait another orbit or two.
