Default Should I have detected this?

Nice and early in a low stakes 90 man S&G...

Maybe I was all too sure my 5s were good? I dunno. The guy/girl called UTG with 77s. I would've raised, probably. So I didn't think they'd have hit the flop like I did.

Bet more on the flop and shove the turn.

You wouldn't have posted this if they'd had AA.

Set over set on the flop is a sick cooler.

You have no reason to think that your hand isn't good on the flop. I would think that checking would almost always get you a continuation bet on a flop like that, so I'd check-raise it.

I didn't bet more because I didn't want to go bust too early, I thought I was playing it sensibly for value... but safely. Also, I wouldn't have posted this if they had AA because I'd have won? I don't think I get what you mean?

Yeah, was disappointed to see I was outdone. I wanted to bet first because I believed myself to be ahead and didn't want to let anyone get a sniff at outdrawing me but - thinking now, it was unlikely they would have from that board, so I should've perhaps let the think they were ahead.

All pointless, though, of course. Because he/she had me beat anyway.

You post hands in the analysis section so we can analyze how well you played them. What hand your opponent is holding doesn't affect how well you played a hand. We're just here to help you put your opponents on a range so you know for next time.

Ah right, I get it now. Yeah, I guess my opponents hand doesn't matter. If I play a hand well every time, in the long run I'd win from it moreso than lose.

I thank you guys for all your comments (on this thread and my past ones), I find the information fascinating every time.

If you flop a set on a relatively dry board like this and can get all your chips in the middle, you played it well.

And no, you couldn't have detected it. He plays 9x, 66, JT, and a few other hands the same way.

Super standard, bet more on the flop to get the chips in by the turn though
