No-Limit Hold'em MTT (w/Bounties), in a Poker club...so this is all from my best recollection.
Just made the final table - 10 handed - first hand. Most players I haven't played with during the evening - so hard to judge how they typically play.
I'm UTG+1 with AA (first of the evening...was actually saying to myself that it'd be nice to get one).
I have ~180k chips.
5 other are in the same chip range (150k-200k)
Chip leader is Button with ~300k
UTG and 2 others have ~80-100k
So,
UTG (Short Stack) goes All-In pre-flop.
I'm next, and decide to push All-In also. I've so far always had a tendency to be aggressive and protect my hands - and didn't want to risk having too many players calling and having one hit a pocket pair or something.
Everybody else folds...UTG shows AJo, I end up winning the hand and getting his bounty.
Now, as I mentionned, I've always been one to protect my hands (unless I've got the nuts) and get people to fold instead of trying to get more chips out of them.
So, here I played it safe...made a bunch of chips (and a cash bounty), and basically had little risks.
What I could have done is simply called...hoping that maybe another would try to go all in to get me out of the hand, and possibly get more chips, but with a (slightly) higher risk.
Oh, and also...we were on the bubble - first 9 places were paying.
Just figured I'd get a feel of how others would have played that hand.

i would of played the same way. no reason to get fancy and bring someone else in just to maybe catch against you.
f*cking it up for everyone else since 1969.

What were the blinds?
This seems pretty standard anyway.

Blinds were 3000/6000 with a 300 ante.
There were a couple of other hands where I probably could have gotten more chips by simply calling...and when I was reviewing the tournament overall, I kept wondering if I should have played that one differently.Last edited by Tokoki; 10-07-2008 at 07:27 AM.

Deffinately if the stack to blind ratio was less, i.e you had more BB, I would be inclined to just call here. Maybe your reshoves would be given less credit later but you may well tripple up or more here. In this situatuion I would think about it while and call... Ignore the cash bubble IMO, unless the prizes don't go up steaply which they almost always do.

Well your stack is pretty much a standard 3bet size, no point getting fancy here.

with AA i want as many chips possible in preflop.
in your case there was a bounty involved which affects you EV, but i cant be bothered to do the math. obviously, what you did is okay. i probably would have called if I though someone else would push though.
one thing i've realized about tournaments is you don't need to play as if you're scared of geting sucked out on. it happens.
