Played a freeroll live game at my local pub the other night and had this interesting hand.
I'ts worth noting that I have been playing every week at this venue for about 2 years and have been working hard lately to get rid of my maniac image and try for more of a regular loose aggressive.
Anyway blinds are 50/100, my stack 1275 (2000 staring stacks).
On the button get dealt 8c5c UTG calls then folded to me. Small blind and big blind are both fairly tight so I limp in hoping to see a cheap flop. Small blid fold and big blid checks.
Flop: 5s,5d,9h
Checked round to me, now I know if I bet this flop both players will fold because I'm well known for my love of small connectors so I check hoping these 2 hit something worth betting on the turn.
Turn Kc
1st to act bets 300 next guy calls instantly and i'm rubbing my hands together (in my mind of course) ready to take a huge pot. I'm sure at least 1 of them has the K so I jus min raise to 600. Both players call.
River Kh
Now I am kicking myself for not raising more on the turn because if either of these 2 have the K that I'm pretty sure they do I am screwed.
1st to act raises to 600, other guy calls and I'm looking at my small full house and only 575 in my stack. What would you do?

You've got 11BBs on the flop and the pot will add over 33% to your stack, just shove it.
And folding a full house for >6BBs is pretty lol, even though you're probably beat.

Its probably worth noting that in this tournament you get chipped up 1000 just for making the break so if i fold and then sit back i will make the break with about 400.
Also as I said I have been trying to tighten up my image so I thought folding in this position which seemed like I was obviously beat even though i was getting great pot odds would definately show that I am no longer the maniac I once was.

You'd have to callers if you went all in on the turn IMO instead of min raise (did somebody say live poker freeroll?)

The reason I dont shove the turn is both these players are normaly pretty TAG and neither of them had raised pre-flop so if they have a king they will be worried about their kickers and will probably fold. I was trying to squeeze as much out of them as possible. I thought even if I shove the river after the turn minraise i will get called simply for pot odds and that was what i wanted. The river was just unlucky for me i suppose.
As for the live poker freeroll APL or Australian Poker League runs free tourneys every day at pubs and clubs around Oz. You play for points and winners usually get pub vouchers or beer. Also you can qualify for other games with cash prizes.Last edited by ChoppyAPL; 05-13-2008 at 05:25 PM.

after the break in APL tourneys blinds go to 100/200 right? if you do fold till the break you'll only have 6bbs anyway
just bet flop/shove turn, people call with literally any two cards, and they're not folding overpairs.
i love going to APL once a month for comedy value
