Live MTT, £30+£3 second blind level; 50/100.
Effective stacks are 5,000 give or take.
No reads on the villain but he's shuffled once and he knows his way around a deck of cards. He was also looking at people and not cards when prior flops were dealt so it's safe to assume he knows vaguely what he's doing.
NB: No flushes were possible in this hand but I don't remember specific suits so I'm just gonna make them up as I go along.
I'm UTG+2 withand I raise to 300.
Folds to villain in late-mid position who calls after some thought.
Flop isand I bet 500.
Villain raises to 1500 total.
Do we like calling or re-raise all in? I think calling gets more value out of stuff like A9/KK/QQ/JJ/TT when and if the turn blanks but if he has KK/QQ he's probably along for the ride anyway if we shove.
All-inning also negates our being OOP, but the fact that we are means we can do a sort-of stop'n'go on the turn, putting 3500 into a 3700 pot.
And no, mister-x, villain is not an Asian.

1 move, ALL IN.
I say go all in, I would be willing to bet the guy has something like JQ off or J10 sooted, eitherway he is on a draw and live players love to suck you out. I say you reraise him all in and get your chips in the middle while you still have the best of it, that way you can't be the donkey when the turn comes and then theres an all in, your obligated to call kuz its just god damn hard to get rid of those aces and he flips over a straight. IMO of course, but I agree with the post above, live players do suck.
Also, I wouldnt mind him folding if I reraised him all in. Its a good pot to take away before something stupid happens kuz im sure he is on some kind of draw right here, maybe trips but I doubt it. What was the outcome of this anyway?

So you want him to fold when he's on a draw?
Makes sense...

Meh, I went for the call-flop shove-turn (
) line and he folded.
Not a horrible start to it though.
I went on to finish 19/104 which sucks.

IMO
IMO I have seen that same exact very play in the WSOP, Poker After Dark and numerous other High Stakes games that are televised. Whether its a 5$ buyin or 20,000$ the plays stay the same. The buy in amount has nothing to do with it. I play the same at NL10 as I do NL400, well preflop that is anyways.
Most of the pros practice bankroll management, so there 20,000 buy in is the same as a 30 dollar tournament for players say like us fellow PFO'ers.
Amirite?
