Never a good idea IMO, if you KNOW you will call a shove, then shove first for yourself. Don't give them the chance to just call and catch a card.

on the flop yes hes gonna have to outdraw you

but your preflop call was marginal at best risking another 160 in chips at the 15/30 level FTL

You don't want him to think he has FE? Do you shove all in for value? Probably not. If you are already betting 1/2 pot he is only getting 3:1 which isn't good enough expressed odds for chasing a flush.

That's +ev in cash games, but in a tourney it's all about chipstack, you want to give them as little a chance to catch up as possible. You want to take a risky pot down asap, especially when you've already put in 1/3 of your stack. I don't shove for value here, I shove to chase off the risk of being crippled. You can't replenish to a full buy-in if you lose to a 35% chase in a tourney, and that is just not a big enough advantage for me to want to risk my tourney life especially when so many donks at this level love to risk all in on flush draws.

You think someone will fold to a shove more likely than 1/2 pot here? Cause I am not thinking so...if the pot is already inflated and they call a 1/2 pot bet...they aren't going to expect to check down the rest...and if they dont reraise you get it in on the turn.
