You are only a dog to AA and KK, a flip favorite against AK, and a big favorite against any other hand. He can be doing this with more than AA and KK so it's a clear call.

I'm pretty sure folding is the "correct" play because even if we double up we don't gain that much equity, especially compared to the fact we have lost all our equity if we lose! That doesn't mean I do fold, I know I wouldn't for a $3 game but I suppose the buy in counts for a lot more for you. I'd prefer calling with AK.

You're right, your initial re raise should have been bigger, if you'd stuck 400 in then I'd call regardless.

I'd call. You see the occasional guys on the $3.40 sngs shove with things like KQ and AJ very early on.

Although, this reminds me of a $3.40 sng I was in last week. Same situation, very first hand, but I had KK. Opponent flipped over AA I was like, "Welp, great tourney fellas!"

I stacked off first hand of a $1.20 with KK against AJs and A2s. The A2s is the one who shoved first. AJs flopped the flush. gg.

Just for the curious among you I called. I figured the shoving range of the donks at this level had me ahead most of the time. Here is the full hand in all its glory =)

I'm very interested in what the knowledgable SnG players think of this (ignoring the fact it is a $3 SnG)

(I still stand by the fact I call, I just don't know if it is right)

So am I Jharding which is why I posted it. It was a hard call to make, not because I thought I was behind but because I knew there was risk. If this were a larger tourney instead of a 10man SnG I think it would have been an insta fold. But I am curious if this is more of a +ev move in a 10man or not.

In a larger tourney, it's an insta-call. I think going by "correct" SnG strategy it's a fold, but that strategy breaks down the lower the SnG buy-in. As I said before, I'm making the call because these donks are pushing first hand with any pair, any suited ace, most off-suit aces, and other random junk.
