Results in white below:
SB has 8c Jc (straight, nine high).
Hero has 2d 2h (three of a kind, twos).
Outcome: SB wins t1020.
When I bet the flop, the UTG went insane. He said that he would have rivered the stone cold nuts.
I understand not bluffing into a dry side pot, but I have no compunction at all about betting it when I hit something as big as a set.
Opinions?

Bluffing vs. betting into a dry side pot
Last edited by nsayer; 10-09-2007 at 07:03 AM. Reason: I think there's a bug in the hand history converter. It said I won the pot, which is clearly wrong.

Bluffing into a dry side pot is bad. Flopping a set and betting into a dry side pot is not bad. I'll typically bet into a dry side pot with 2 pair or better myself.

I have no problem with that.
Got unlucky...Looks like something that would happen to me.

There are only a few instances where I would check my set instead of betting into a dry pot with a board like that. The main one is if I am on the money bubble or a satelite seat bubble. Other wise I am betting to build the pot and protect my hand especially on a draw heavy board.

I have a question about poker rules...
If I understand the rules right, SB is not eligible to your 400 flop bet because it is outside his side pot. No?
