Default EARLY in the "$24,000 Guaranteed" MTT - lil help plz

Don't have a good read on anyone at this point -- was this a good laydown? Should I be more aggressive preflop? Can't I limp if possible to try to catch a set?

I mean, it really sucked when he showed...

Also, the hand converter wouldn't work, for some reason, but I did try spacing it all out a bit. If a mod could convert for me, I'd be much obiged

Oh, and I ended up being knocked out of the tourney by the same dude... he called a 6xBB preflop with a 24o (against my AKs). Flop came A53 rainbow. Can you friggin' believe that?

Hmmm tough one, course going by the hand he knocked you out with he could have had anything. But then, you didn't know that at the time obviously.

If that's not a lesson in not minraising on the flop then what is?
For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.

I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.

I'm bummed out man...been running like this for the last couple days. I know my game can use some improvements.... but I really don't know about playing so freakin aggressive to get the trash out preflop...

If you're gonna raise, just raise pot. Even if you raise pot every single time, it's better than minraising.

Dumb question, but what is "pot" preflop?

    Depends on the blinds.

If it's, say, 100/200 blinds and you are first to speak, raising "pot" would be:

200 (amount to "call") + 500 (what the pot would be if you just called) = raise up to 700

Easier way is to just go 4bb +1 per limper and if you are reraising, go to 3.5x the original raise.

This is a good explanation until we get that 200 + 500 =1000. Donk.
Opening raise of pot is always 3.5bb in a game with no antes, unless you are opening from the SB in which case pot is to 3bb.
