Because we have 800 invested and our pot odds are crap, as well as our hand. That was my reasoning. I see what seany is on about though but I still fold.

Alex is by far the best tournament player on this board so unless he's totally fucked up it'll never be an easy decision if he posts a problem.

Desperate player shoves = any two for some players, even tight players are likely to shove any suited ace, med-higher offsuit aces, any pair etc.

highly likely hes fucked up in some way tho.....also, cos hes a very lucky(or good or whatever ) tournament player, id like to see more of these kinda posts.

since i wandered in here unknown to myself i may as well comment....

id prob fold purely cos im weak.

if he got short 15 mins ago with a genuine hand, then its not so obv that hes gonna be pushing any 2. if he waited a few orbits before pushing, id have to credit him with a big A or a decent pair.

however, hes only 3 off the blinds so if they're going up in the next few hands, it may well reduce his hand requirements to push as, with the antes(50 at this level?) hes got an M of slightly >3 at the moment so it really is time for shit or bust for him but the fact he waited so long to push makes me think we're badly dominated, need an A or a coinflip at the very very best.

Well, he's kind of a random because the situation's changed and I've only been at the table for a half hour. He had about 6k-7500 through the 300/600 level. That's what I meant by "it's all I know about him."

There's no doubt that A9s is good against a random shove, the problem is that at least 15% of the time someone will overshove behind us with a much stronger hand.

That was why I posted the hand. If he shoved my BB and it folded to me, I SNAP call. I'm not sure how likely the people behind are to call with their stacks.
