Default final table with hyper aggressive opponent

Villian has been stealing pots relentlessly, usually with a bet just over 2bb from middle & late position. The big blind is about to go up and I'll be getting to that 10bb point soon...

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t600 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    UTG+1 (t4530)
    MP1 (t5670)
    MP2 (t14268)
    Hero (t11474)
    Button (t5754)
    SB (t22377)
    BB (t4959)
    UTG (t7487)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9, 9.
    3 folds, MP2 raises to t1500, Hero calls t1500, 3 folds.

    Flop: (t3350) 7, 3, J (2 players)
    MP2 checks, Hero bets t3000, MP2 raises to t12718,

What now? He overbet the pot and has been super aggressive. I'm in the money, but my tournament life would be on the line and the payouts are much better the higher you get. I do have backdoor straight and flush draws, plus the 8% chance of hitting my set.

Yeah but you have to play it as a situation and not by a strict rule. If you say this guy has been stealing pots and getting out of line teach him a lesson. You could pop it up to like 5k here also, but that leaves him the opportunity to come back over the top. Calling like you have also leaves you open to the squeeze play from SB.

Shoving sends the message and if he does decide to call with KJ you're slightly ahead (not that he will). You're worried about getting to that 10bb point, currently theres 4bb in the pot. Take it down now and you have 19.

Edit: misread your stack. Reraising to 5k would be a bad idea.

I guess you're right. I can tell from the way it played I should have reraised preflop, but any such raise is pretty much going to commit me. Maybe if I raise to 4000 and he pushes -- I can fold, but then I'm right around 10bb...

Hence the shove. You dont give him a decision, he has to fold.

It's a concept I'm currently trying to get a hold of... stealing the ownership of the table from the bully.
