It's so sick how some morons can get away with plays like this. How they always catch dream boards is just ridiculous! I grind away and have a pretty profitable day considering time played and then one hand like this and half of it's gone!
This board got very shitty for me towards the end, I bet the river to avoid him just shoving on a bluff.
Any comments? Was I just unlucky to come up against a moron and catch the case ace?

Just bad luck sir. Sorry.
Lots of good rakeback options at http://www.rakeguard.com/?raf=KRE8R
KRE8R probably has about seventy college funds in his NL5 roll.

Epic, this is a good example of how much harder hands are to play out of position, even hands as strong as AKs!
If I act first on the river there are 4 possible scenarios:
a) I check, he bets
b) I check, he shoves
c) I bet, he calls
d) I bet, he shoves
In cases a) and b) it is really tough to put him on a hand because he could be on a busted FD or other bluff because I've shown weakness. If he checks behind then that's great but I think this is very unlikely.
In case c) I'm probably only getting called by a hand that beats me, such as A7 so there is little value in this play.
In case d) he is realistically only shoving with a better hand but the pot odds will be too big to fold imho.
If I act 2nd, these are the possible scenarios
a) He checks
b) He bets
c) He shoves
In case a) I probably check behind thinking that there is little value in betting because there are not a lot of hands that I bet that he beats, plus he can still check raise all in.
In case b) I simply make a pot odds call/fold decision
In case c) it is an easy fold.
Can you see how much easier it is to play in position even when holding a hand as big as AKs? Make that A5 or the sort of junk you play OOP and it becomes much worse!
If anyone wants to add or correct anything then please feel free

Actually, check/calling the river or betting $6 and folding to a shove is optimal. All you beat that's playing back to a bet is AT and AT calling down and raising the river? Hell, no. He either just got there with KT/AJ or had you all along to raise any bet on this river. Remember the
is dead on the board. A Queen high diamond draw is gonna be more aggressive with a combo and in a raised pot a King high diamond draw most likely has a gutshot with it on the flop. If he has the
, you guys are all in on the flop against JT. Otherwise, the other diamond draws are giving up on the river with the Ace out there.
