Why not bet the turn a bit to make the pot more juicy for a river value bet? Stray 7 is scary I guess but is he calling your pf raise with one? Maybe you dont want to act too strong, but he has a nice stack for you to feed off of. Did he fold? What would be real nice is if he has a K and called/poped up the river.

Edit: I guess not scaring him off the turn to let him hit a K on the river is a good choice to.

Depends on the raise, but I'm feeling a bit timid in a lot of scenarios, comfortable in others. All-in... since you asked... most if the time I end up calling.

Soooo... should I stay out of cash game conversations?

your play looks good.. althought i'm probably betting less on that river, probably in the range of 10$ trying to squeeze a call outa something weaker then 99 there. I think a 16$ bet folds out alot of the things we beat.

if he decides to cr me on that river, then im done with the hand and i will let it go.

imo, yes.. the opponents stats dictate that he is playing quite loose (30% VPIP for full ring).. so 67s, 78s, 79s, 7Ts, 57s, 77, A7s, K7s, 47s, are all part of your opponents hand range here.

I like the turn check. Keeps the pot small if villain has a 7 and induces river bluffs from junk.

I play this the same, if there was a flush draw on the flop though (say 8c = 8h), I'll be betting the turn. I don't think we can stand a check raise on the river, not many will make that play with anything other than a 7.

Calling a river check-raise would be pretty terrible in my opinion.
I wondered whether anybody either bet the turn or checked the river behind.

standard. bet size is really important here on this river, I think $10-$15 is fine.

I dunno, does a <$15 bet on the river not scream that you don't have the straight? Are we getting bluff raised enough here to make a check +ev?

tbh I probably play the same as some of the others, check the turn and bet like $12 on the river, just thinking out loud, I don't think a river check is THAT bad.

I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.
