I would have bet my left nut it wasn't AK, but I seen A7/A3 as scary possabilities. Also think he would have played A8 the same way (he had been in most pots this game). Did I make a mistake here? The check/raise flop was a given as he would have raised no matter what I'm sure.

TpQk - Did I outplay myself?

I don't like the small reraise preflop.
Assuming its an MTT I think your options are either:
- call and see a flop.
- repop to 500 so you have some chance of taking pot down preflop at least
As played you have 1/5th your stack in preflop and flop TP2K - there is no way of getting away from the hand ever. Check/raising may get value from a bluff if the guy is enough of a donk to call a 3bet and then bluff an A high flop when checked to.

If this is a SNG, fold PF.

Pretty decent comment imo. No need to play AQ to a raise in a SNG when you have 30BB stack.Damn seany... pretty useless comment outa you.

I agree that the PF re raise (if you don't want to cold call) needs to be bigger. As it is you're just building a bigger pot with an unmade hand. You have no fold equity so you're definitely seeing a flop.
On the flop, the way you played it, I 3 bet him all in. I'm not getting away from this in a re raised pot (unless I wasn't the re raiser in which case they could have AK).

I agree with Seany actually. In a STT I'm mostly folding this, but I will mix in a few calls with position.
In an MTT, I like reraising but it has to be more, at least to 450 or something. As played I go broke on that flop.
EDIT: just realised you are OOP, yeah in STT I just fold.Last edited by davidab157; 05-09-2007 at 10:35 AM.
For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.
I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.

You'd be better pushing if you have a read on him being a donkey.
Otherwise like Seany says, fold.

I learned my bad plays from you in the PFO SnG
. This was a 1000+ $5 MTT
I coulda folded, but like I said, he was raising/calling every hand so far and I hate being pushed around too long. Gotta make a stand sometimes, so maybe a push was a better option, but part of me wanted him to call pf, especially when I saw the flop. Guess I got what I was asking for good and hard.
General concenses seams to be the barely-more-than-min-raise was not a good idea... I'll do this less often."People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are.
