    Default How bad was this?

I'm beating myself up over this one guys. The villain was nothing special, your typical player at these limits. When he raises on the flop I peg him for an overpair (not aces though, it doesn't fit). Am I right to sometimes let a card roll off and go for the check/raise on the turn or should I always be 3 betting this flop?

The turn card didn't scare me, am I ahead enough here at these limits?

I don't mind not 3 betting the flop here but I definitely shut down after that turn and don't go for the check raise. I'd try to show down as cheaply as possible and fold to any serious action.

Have not looked at results yet, but I think when he min raises you here on the flop you have to up the pot to $15-$20 bucks. I want more info about where I stand before playing this pot any further.

    edit:

Ok just looked at results and he had a 6 which is about what I expected. I still think if you made it $15-20 on flop you would have taken the pot down. And if he had JJ or QQ you would have ended up stacking him.

I think with the action on the turn he HAS to have an 8 or a 6.

Yeah I dunno. Been a horrible month for me, I can't hit anything, my hands won't hold, nothing is going right. I suppose it's getting to me now, when he raised the flop I put him on the overpair and for some reason nothing was moving me from that "read", not even that turn card. I had the idea to let a card come off, let him fire with his JJ/QQ and I'd pop him and get his stack, simple as that.

If you do have him on QQ/JJ then it has to be better to 3bet here then let another card come off. You would want to build the pot here on the flop so that he will have trouble getting away on turn/river and has to suck out to win.

dont be too hard on yourself its not that bad of a play you are ahead here some amount of the time too like you said when villain has 99+ or a really aggressively played draw. i just wanted to comment that your flop and turn plays conflict with eachother
