I can't tell if I'm happy about this outcome. Ok well I'm happy that my PF raise didn't get re-raised, I'm happy that I connected with the flop and I'm happy to win a nice little pot with 8 high but I kind of hoped that my opponent had something and we would see all 5 cards.
Should I have raised to chase him out or just called to see another card?

Did I want him to stick around?
I think I'm going to give up playing poker.........and take up repeatedly hitting myself in the nuts

Well I think either way your good here. Betting that much you commit you and him to the pot to the end which you are almost definately a favourite in.
If he folds you take a nice pot 100% of the time.
Good situation either way.
Probably best to end it there the way youve been runningI wanna live till I die. No more. No less.

I play it the same. Get the money in while you know you are almost always a favourite (if he had JQs that would be siiiiiick
).
If you call, he can price you out on a blank turn. For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.
I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.
