    Default The power of the Preflop raise...

    Man did this ever hurt. I usually play agressivley on pockets, but I thought to myself "What's the worst that can happen?". Boy did I play it wrong. Probably the worst mistake I've ever made in poker, no doubt.

    Full Tilt Poker
    Pot Limit Holdem Tournament
    Blinds: t20/t40
    7 players
    Converter

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: t5815
    UTG+1: t1360
    MP1: t910
    CO: t3425
    pkrebm: t1905
    SB: t1430
    BB: t4955

    Pre-flop: (7 players) pkrebm is Button with
    UTG folds, UTG+1 calls t40 (pot was t60), MP1 folds, CO calls t40 (pot was t100), pkrebm calls t40 (pot was t140), SB calls t20 (pot was t180), BB checks.

    Flop: (t200, 5 players)
    SB checks, BB bets t120, UTG+1 calls t120 (pot was t320), CO folds, pkrebm raises to t500, SB folds, BB calls t380 (pot was t940), UTG+1 calls t380 (pot was t1320).

    Turn: (t1700, 3 players)
    BB checks, UTG+1 bets t200, pkrebm raises to t800, BB folds, UTG+1 calls t600 (pot was t2700).

    River: (t3300, 2 players)
    UTG+1 is all-in t20, pkrebm calls t20 (pot was t3320).

    I can not understand why you would ever want to limp Kings on the button with 2 limpers already in the pot. I would raise this up to about 350 pre-flop.

    I appreciate you've recognised it as a mistake, but what was your thinking?

    People in sit n go's are usually bad players. And I am a shining example after tha hand

    I guess I wanted to change it up a bit. It wasn't straight thinking that's for sure.

    let me just tell u that there is absolutely nothing gained by being "deceptive" here. if you raise people will not think you have KK anyway

    My question to you is: Would he have called a good preflop raise with Q10? Probably, but it couldn't hurt trying.
