    Default 6 Max table

Need some help with this hand, villian here has a VPIP of about 55% and plays semi agressive in and out of position.

I am pretty sure I took myself out of the pot by not taking the free card, so do you call in this spot? Is his bet the nuts or a bluff, if he has the straight do you pay him off if you go for the flush.

I favour checking the turn here for two reasons:

    1. Avoids the check-raise. With a draw to the nuts (obv apart from the straight flush) calling and folding to the c/r will cost alot as you may be a big dog calling or lose the chance of your draw when you fold.

    2. You can induce a bluff on the river. He may be drawing, he may have nothing. You can feel much better about calling a river bet rather than calling on turn with money behind.
For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.

I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.

I def think I should have checked but, after the check raise what is your play in this spot?

No money behind as he moved All-in with his check raise

I agree with davidab and would have checked the turn a large percentage of the time here for the reasons stated and I would also call a pot sized bet on the river unless the flush card appears.

As played I think you have to fold this. You are getting 1.5-1 and you are very likely to be behind here. The only hand I can see him having that you beat is KQ (it's 4 handed and he's very lag based on his stats/your read). You will be drawing to 9 outs a lot of the time, maybe as many as 13 if he's got 67. Either way it's not a great spot.

my bad, didn't notice that. But I'd rather check and call a bet on the river than call a push on the turn, much more equity from bluffs as your turn check will show a fair bit of weakness.

It shows strength, he most probably has you beat and you aren't getting great odds, so I fold.

Agree with David on checking the turn. I don't mind giving a free card here. There's little I see him calling the turn with. It looks like a raise or fold spot for Villian because that board sucks and calling begs for you to shove the river and put him in a tough spot if he has anything at all. We need to open up his action range here, I think.

A bet's not bad, though. We'd love to show this down firing the flop and turn, possibly the river.

the turn is an even BETTER spot than usual b/c we picked up a heart draw. now, there are very few rivers that actually scare us. good things can happen with a check this way:

-we check behind and nail the nut flush, stack straight, 2pair, etc
-if we brick, the money we WOULD have bet on the turn we can call on the river, b/c he can be bluffing missed draws and such now
-we cant get bluffed off the best hand(and it was possible we did as played)

betting builds the pot and gives us a tough decision on the river if he shoves and we brick, opens up a turn CR, and folds out lots of hands we can beat on the turn.

as played you have to fold. you have 9 outs.
