    Default QQ vs Maniac

Villain in this hand was a maniac (58/32/3.5) over 60 hands. He was taking down a load of hands without showing down and generally bullying the table. I would normally have left the table, but I was to his left and felt that sooner or later he was going to bluff off his stack.

I had only tangled with him in a few hands. I reraised his usual raise pre flop and he folded. In the others I called his raises and folded to his cbets.

My line against a "normal" opponent in this hand would have been to re-raise pre flop and then bet the flop if checked to me, or raise a flop bet depending on opponent.

    Blinds: $0.25/$0.50

    Hero (Button) ~ $47
    Villain (CO) ~ $41

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is Button with
UTG folds, CO raises to $2.89, Hero calls, SB calls, BB folds.

^^ I didn't want him to fold as in our previous hand and wanted him to bluff his stack when I actually had a hand.

    Flop: ($9.17, 3 players)
SB checks, CO checks, Hero checks.

^^ I don't like the ace, but neither does he based on his check. I checked for similar reasons as above.

    Turn: ($9.17, 3 players)
SB checks, CO bets $3.8, Hero calls, SB folds.

^^ He finally bets, I was concerned about the SB still in the hand, so I called. If SB had raised I was gone, but thought that calling would allow me to at least find out where SB was.

    River: ($16.77, 2 players)
    CO bets $14.65, Hero calls.

^^ I had committed myself to calling any reasonable bet on the river, I felt he makes this bet with a busted draw or lower pp.

    Results:
    Final pot: $46.07

Thoughts? Like I said this is normally not how I would play this hand, but villains previous play made me think differently. How would any of you guys have played that hand? Should I have adjusted this much v this type of player?

Against a guy like this I'd play it the same in position on the flop and turn. Sometimes, I'd raise the turn to get him to define his hand or control the showdown price, but with these stacks, if he's on a heart draw, he can shove you on any river if you raise the turn and you can't call. I like it, but folding anything more than $12 on the river isn't bad and that's probably right, but i can't honestly say I'd fold this river here against this person for anything around the pot.

Thanks Alex, Villain had AQo in this hand and I suppose that I have to give him credit for how he played the hand based on his image. His check on the flop lured me in to thinking he didn't have an ace and allowed him to win a decent pot with TPGK.

If you know the villian is loose and raising with trash and you are holding QQ, you must 3-bet PF.

1st, it's for value, your hand probably beats the range of what he is holding.
2nd, you want to build a bigger pot and see how strong his hand really is.
3rd, you played too passively on the flop-- you should've bet the flop. If no one has the Ace, they fold. On the turn, if you don't put him on the A, you must RAISE..you cannot call and let SB call behind you and let him catch up.

Basically, the way you played this hand, you had no idea where you stood in the hand, especially with it being 3-way. If it was HU, I could understand the passiveness.

Don't get too tricky playing these low limits. Play standard poker and you'll be fine.
