Taking a few moments then cold calling. Appear weak. If he has a 7 then it is a split pot anyway.
My only real concern is a set which could river a boat and possibly a semi bluff flush draw.
I think you got one on the hook. I have the best hand and making a 1/2 pot sized bet on the river hoping for a re-raise (unless flush or river pirs the board).
Other option is to re-raise pot sized or all in to eliminate the flush draw.
Depends on the player also. Has he showed down a lot of hands?? Got a read on him?Last edited by Loz; 01-11-2007 at 11:07 PM.

Dont rule out him having T7 here.
Thats what scares me the most. I would say hes almost definately got a 7, its a unprofitable move to make with 99 (or similar) on a board so coordinated as this one.
Id most likely flat call and hope for a card such as a Q, K or Ace or a lower card like a 2 3 or 4, id pray the river didnt bring 3 cards to a flush and hope that it didnt bring a 7.
I wouldnt even rule out a hand such as TJh here... but its less likely.

I think:
a. raise PF
b. call turn, call river. prolly chopping the pot. sometimes he has you. I doubt you take this whole pot down more than 20% of time.
This is a very dificult situation btw. How will you react to a 50-70$ river bet? if you won't call, I suggest you fold now.I get more ass than a toilet seat. All shapes/colors/sizes.

I'd rather raise to $10 PF, but nothing wrong with calling in position.
Flop- Good.
Turn- No way he's on an FD, but he has a hand, you probably sucked out on his set. I say this because he's not making a raise that any bettor can fold to here, but he consciously didn't minraise either. There's $76 in the pot and he has $150 left behind him. You can 3-bet him up to $110 and call a push. He won't have the odds to draw to the full house, but he isn't laying down a set. Shoving isn't awful, but I'd rather call than shove. Problem with calling is that he'll slow down if the flush hits.
You can see a lot of tough rivers, so I'd prefer to 3-bet and call a push. If he just calls the $70 and the board pairs and he pushes, you'll have a decision, but you'll also have 4:1 on the call. If he checks the board pairing, you can check behind. Any other river, you're calling a push or pushing if he checks. If the flush hits, you're committed, too. Only FD's I see him having contain a 7 and overall, the only T7, he'll have'll be suited. With all of this, you can see where 3-betting the turn makes things easier and gets you the most value, IMO.

OK, here is what I did on the Turn:
Turn: ($20) 9
(2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $16, SB raises to $40, Hero calls $24.
River: ($100) J
(2 players)
SB bets $86, Hero ????
Now, he insta-bets on river after JavaScript appears. I get that sick feeling again. I have no reads on the player...new table.
I have to call $86 into a $186 pot... getting approx 2-1.
What to do here? Can I fold the straight?Last edited by pj94z; 01-12-2007 at 05:49 AM.

Definitely the way to go IMO, then you don't get that kind of decision on the river.
As for that river, I think you're looking at a split at best, i fold it. I just can't see him having a set and still firing when another co-ordinated card comes out. i honestly don't think you win the whole pot enough (30%ish) to make this call +ev.For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.
I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.
