Default A PLO MTT Hand People Should Look At.

I'm a bit too toasty for cash games, so I'm playing tournaments- another $11 on Stars and a $1r PLO on UB. Here's a hand from my PLO MTT that I think is a clinic. Discuss and I'll explain my thought process later.

Table had tightened up a TON.

shanetrain22 is at seat 1 with 2630.
shark9923 is at seat 2 with 12565.
The Pitbull is at seat 3 with 9900.
ucky flucker is at seat 4 with 29855.
xx lain is at seat 5 with 12050.
petey445 is at seat 7 with 10425.
Pinochle is at seat 8 with 15585.
ntweety is at seat 9 with 10795.
The button is at seat 5.

petey445 posts the small blind of 100.
Pinochle posts the big blind of 200.

The Pitbull:

Pre-flop:

The Pitbull raises to 600. ucky flucker folds. xx
lain folds. petey445 folds. Pinochle calls in the BB.

Flop: : (Pot: t1300)

Pinochle checks. The Pitbull bets 775. Pinochle
calls.

Turn (Pot: t2850)

Pinochle checks. The Pitbull bets 1300. Pinochle
calls.

River (Pot: t5450)

Pinochle bets 5450. The Pitbull goes all-in for 7225.
Pinochle calls.

Tough spot. I've played a bunch of these low-buyin PLO things now and a lot of people seem to move in with all sort of hands. Some think middle pair is good enough. So I prolly move in on the river as well, although you might be badly beaten...

Its a $1 rebuy. I can't see how you would ever play that any different in a $1 rebuy.

Might be different if we discuss the hand as though it was at a $50+ tournament. Still be tough to fold though unless he has Axd with 35 or 3566 or something and doesnt fear diamond/board pairing. Anyone who doesnt push turn there with a baer straight is probably also going to play a lower set all in on river. Could be a possible bluffed flush draw also. Think you are ahead of his range.

Disclaimer I have only ever played about 5k hands in PLO.

I think the straight is a long shot here. Pinochle has trips as well, two pair, high pocket pair with a busted straight or flush draw and feels pot commited, or maybe a longgggggggggggggggggggg shot striaght. I think you got the winner here.

I would bet on 2 pair and a busted flush draw.

When looking at the buyin of a rebuy, I'd say that a $1r's has the caliber of a $5-$15 freezeout where they're bad, but aren't bad in that they think weak hands are the nuts, but in that they're too passive and play too many hands- basically the average $100 or $200 NL player.

And if this were a $50+ buyin, I'd've been all in on the flop 'cause some overaggressive retard would've check/potted and committed his stack with air.

NOTE: My bets from preflop 'til the end weren't probes. They were for value. I was getting all the money in on the flop if he chose pot my bet.

well, he just calls pre-fop which tells me he has an AsK67 or possibly a 5678 type hand where he wants to see the flop.

on the flop with his flat call of your 1/2 potish bet I'd say nut flush draw maybe 579 with maybe a pair, MAYBE. So hands like As6xx or 5679

He bricked the turn and I love your underbet to rope him in and keep his >9 out draw calling you. since if the draws get there you have position and can proceed from there since you haven't overcommitted to the hand like so many do.

the river is perfect since it changes nothing, you have the second nut to the 35. his pot bet screams I missed everything please fold! If he really had the 35 he'd bet much less.

He played the hand like a station. with any of his suspected holdings I check-raise your ass on the flop

This is why I ruled out a combo draw.
