I figured with the pot odds (8.5:1), top pair, and backdoor draw, it was ok to keeping on with the hand.

I can't say I like the call preflop all that much. You can't really play it like a drawing hand with stacks that short and we all know weak aces can get you into problems if you hit top pair.
Did you consider raising the flop after his very weak flop bet? I have a hard time putting him on an ace here since there are a couple of draws out. If he's got 9T or a hand like 10Kdd we don't like to give him a free card.
Turn is okey the way you played it, I still think it's unlikely he's got an ace. I think I prefer a raise here though since his weak bets could very well be blocking bets.
River is good.
Considering what your oponent had in this hand I think you got the maximum value, or close to it, out of this hand.

PF- Not deep stacked enough to justify a call. I'll re-steal with a push or fold. 90%+ of the time, I'll fold.
Flop- Raise it to 2k. BB can have any Jack, make a real bet and take the pot with the best hand. I'd fold to a re-raise, but definitely raising to 2k most of the time- only because of the diamonds. Otherwise, I like calling to keep the pot small and his 400 bet establishes a good tone for the rest of the hand.
Turn- If he bet anything under 1600 after the 400 on the flop, I'd insta-push this turn. You'll get the call from any Jack and probably even TT or 99 because you look like you're stealing with a straight/diamond draw.
River- From the way that the hand played out, I like the raise. Good value.
Generally, I like the way you played the hand. You kept the pot small with a small hand, but I'd be more aggressive with those diamonds and the straight draw on the flop coupled with the weak lead.

pf, either RR steal or fold.
but since u called and we are at the flop now.. the flat call on the flop and the call on the turn was the best line imo.. You dont really want to build this pot with a raise, cuz then ur gonna end up playing for ur stack... if hes betting QQ/KK here then let him keep betting into you..
turn -> good implied odds here, if u hit u probably take his stack...
river -> u hit the flush, time to stack this bitch.... put him all in on the river.. he will never ever put u on the backdoor flush.. if hes calling a river raise here, hes gonna call a river push. set him all in and let him eat it
