I wish I knew enough about Stud to know if this is a bad beat, bad play, or standard. So I'll post it here and take a look. Big props to Triple-T for the converter!!

Other than raising both hands on 3, I would have played them the exact same way. You are 3 handed and normally aggression wins. You just got unlucky catching two bad cards on the end of each hand while he was catching perfect cards on his.
I study at KRE8R's School of Bankroll Management.
If you IM me looking for money or a trade, you will be blocked.

1st hand
Raise 3rd and I think you end it there. Never slowplay 3rd or 4th in a Stud game. EDIT: AHHHHHH! He had the bring in?!!!!
2nd hand:
In a tourney setting... with 2.5 bets... Stud8...
I see A45, I'm raising the hell out of it. In hindsight, it's weird that S7 didn't complete because we know what he had, but you have to complete and raise-raise-raise. No checking and no calling because he's betting and you're not folding.

OK, I just figured out the probabilities on the first hand going to the river:
54% of the time I will win the entire pot.
32% of the time we split
13% of the time he wins the entire pot.
I'm ruling that it was a bad beat.

Second hand:
Going to the river he was a favorite:
38% he wins
32% I win
30% we split
I was unlucky, but I can't blame him for staying in the hand. Big money went in the pot on 5th street (noone's folding after that). He had lo draw of A,3,4,6 and a pair. I had better low draw of A,2,4,5."There is a good chance I gave you a very bad description of something that doesn't work."

The first was definitely a bad beat, but with only 1900 in chips, I don't think he's fighting for half the antes and bring in with 3 to a lo if you complete 3rd St. Second hand, I think you're showing down and he isn't going anywhere. I still test the waters by completing 3rd St. You could've gotten away on 5th- especially with the dead 3's. I'm curious as to why he didn't bet 4th.
