All in with a pair of 3's. Apparently adopting the "they gotta set up sometime" philosophy

Them. You didnt really do anything wrong as far as I can see.
Lots of good rakeback options at http://www.rakeguard.com/?raf=KRE8R
KRE8R probably has about seventy college funds in his NL5 roll.

I guess I second guessed myself because after the hand I ran it through Pokerstove and realised that I was a 3 to 2 dog against both idiots.....er, I mean villains.

I may play a little more aggressive so this may not fit your style of play...But I believe you mis played your JJ pre flop... There was 210 I believe in pot when it was your turn to act..if you just call of course the blinds call as they have odds... You needed to re raise and get marginal hands out you do not want six players in a pot in which you have JJ flopping a set might not even be good in that situation.... Narrow the field the guy that raised originally only had 1500 I would have re raised at least three hundred. You narrow the field or perhaps buy right there....but if you end up heads up and flop is 78 10 you can feel alot more comfortable with JJ then and easily could move all in after flop if someone had over pair beating your JJ they would most likely re raise pre flop in which case you could lay down JJ but if they didn't you could feel very confident in taking pot down with an all in off flop..

I thought about raising this up PF but this is a $4 SnG with the blinds at $20. The only re-raise here that wouldn't get 2-3 callers is an all in and I don't really want to put my whole tournament on the line with JJ in the first level of blinds.

OH..did not realize it was a $4 dollar SnG yeah big raises only attract more bad callers with bad hands....but even 2 to 3 callers to flop off a 300-400 re raise is better than six against your JJ. Six way pot give me 9 10 suited all day. Try moving yourself up a bit if you can afford it....if you are on this site you are already ahead of a lot of players at the $30 SnG... I would recommned at least $10.....I think if the top players in the world played $4 SnG their winning % would be less than 20%(once again just my opinion and not knocking you for being at $4, just seems like you are better than the stakes your playing, and the stakes your playing have a lower probability for rewarding hand statistics PF and talent.
$10 SnG- and under- really tough to get reads on hands at least 4-5 players to flop over 50% of the time or at least in my experience.
$20 -moderate players 6 of 10 will know they are behind and often fold rather than try to get lucky
$30- skills levels getting better almost average players (people actually looking to be proud for making a good lay down) still a few fish that have money and think they can compete*Above average players do very well at this level* NO need to go higher STAY HERE Risk vs Reward best probability
$50- People begin to tighten up -tourneys become a little longer and you will begin to find it harder finding callers off pre flop raises making it tougher to get paid. After placing in 8 of 10 from the $30 SnG's take $50 and try this level out..
$100 + Basically the same as fifty with the skill level going up a bit with each.
once again tourneys take a little longer.
Gl at the $30 ...I think you'll find great success there
