Bored and playing a $55 SnG on Party.
I saw Villian raise the same amount PF in a recent hand, CB the 9 hi flop, and check down the rest of the hand with his opponent and lose his 77 to 88. Even though it was early, I decided to take a flop and play from there because it was him. He was playing really fast and these guys never lay down to re-raises before the flop.
Play this hand out.

i bet here. probably 300-400
checking is weak. if a spade comes you dont know what to do. if he had an A it leaves money on the table. set of 888 will get it in anyway. A8 or w/e doesnt want to see a spade either and one might kill your action.
and if he has something like KK, or air, hes not going to pay you anyway. the most he will is one 1/2 pot bet on the turn, and that bet isnt worth it when you can bet the flop and make more in the long run.

I would throw in a standard 1/2 pot size bet for all the reasons TA said but also b/c that's what I'd do with position and being checked into reguardless if the flop hit my hand or not! Checking thru from position would look like a trap coming from an aggressive player and I'm hoping UTG+1 is going for a ck-r with A-x
The 1/2 size bet vs 300-400 is a little easier for a draw to call and still be making a mistake and I'm not trying to win this pot right away what with a set giving me 80% chance to win and my outs to a FH almost as good as a flush or str8 draw.

I concur with TA and A8's for reasons said. Its highly suspicious that he doesn't cbet. I think he is probably slow playing a big ace. Bet 300. If he calls, I push the turn on any non-spade. If he raises here, its all you can eat time!!
Or you could use the Jason method here. Push all in as fast as you can and watch the Lemming call instantly.
Now, he had AA right?"There is a good chance I gave you a very bad description of something that doesn't work."

hmm.... what hands would he lead out and then check.
I think if he had JJ, QQ, or KK he would lead out with a CB and hope to take the pot down.
AA or 88 would justify a check here but the result will most likly be all-in for both players anyway so no real reason to consider it.
A10s, kinda popped in my mind.... although highly unlikly, and probaly results in you busting him no matter what you do, so I will skip that hand too.
If he has a big drawing hand like QJs or J9s of spades (your 60% to win), I dont think you are going to be able to push him out of this hand even with a all-in...
Now if he was a small drawing hand, like QJo, he has a double gutshot... but in these situations you are (70%+ to win). I think this is where you can make the most money by betting 300-400, I think that a small draw would be inclined to chase here.
If a blank comes on the turn I will probaly just push the rest of my stack and take down the pot or let him chase the river card. If the board pairs I will bet out 1/3-1/2 the pot on the turn and hope he chases since he is likly drawing dead. If the turn is a scare card then I play the rest of the hand very cautiously.Last edited by Auto; 08-15-2006 at 10:32 AM.
