Hey,
I was wondering if my reraise here was too small to protect against implied odds. I put my opponent on probaly a mid PP (88-JJ), or 2 high cards like KQs or AJs...
I thought pushing allin on the flop might get a smaller overpair to call. I really was only worried about him having 88, but I thought to odds of that were slim. When he turned over 33, I was very surprised. I thought I had raised enough to push out small pairs, but now Im thinking that maybe he had good enough implied odds to make that call. Can someone explain to me implied odds of small pairs.... if you put a person on AA or KK would it be valid for this player to call my raise???
Thanks in advance...

He was leaning on you. You had the one of table's short stacks, and he was up double on you. I would imagine that initially his goal was to chip you for a bit once the flop came down by representing something and bullying you out of that preflop raise you made. He just got lucky and nutted the flop in the process.
Your stack of checks is almost as important as the cards you hold in your hand.Last edited by Greshmahg; 08-09-2006 at 10:17 AM.

Preflop, small pocket pairs are a good example of a hand that has huge implied odds. If you do hit your set, you will probably make a lot of money against an opponent with two pair or top pair and top kicker.

Flopping a set or better (with a pocket pair) - 7.5/1
He's calling 240 to win 1770 so his implied odds (assuming he stacks you if he hits) are 7.375/1. He didnt quite have enough odds to call, but its not completely out of line.BB is t100
Preflop: Hero is UTG with :3d :5d,
Hero raises to t500

I guess technically though he is calling 180 (since his 60 raise is already in the pot) to stack 1770... which would make 10 to 1 odds....

I think I have to agree with first poster's responce, looks as if he was more then willing to gamble here a bit with his big stack in hopes to push me around post flop."On a large enough time line, the survival rate of a Donk will drop to zero."
