Default Let me pick your brains a bit in this MTT situation.

190-something out the 245 left. 722 entrants. Loose-passive table. Not much raising PF here, but I've seen some pretty good postflop play, I'll admit. UTG+1 and MP2 are really loose limpers. The blinds, I don't remember. I was playing 2 other tournies.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

    SB (t2285)
    BB (t3195)
    UTG (t1230)
    UTG+1 (t5040)
    MP1 (t3545)
    MP2 (t4825)
    Hero (t1742)
    Button (t2808)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J, A.
    1 fold, UTG+1 calls t150, 1 fold, MP2 calls t150, Hero _______________ ???

    Whatcha doin' here Hero? Why?

I think the problem you have here is that if you raise any significant amount it's going to be a large portion of your stack. AJo is not really something you want to be going mad with, even with position.

If you limp how likely is a raise from the blinds? If it's not very likely I'll be looking to see a cheap flop and run away if I miss.

Alternatively, make the push now and see if you can pick up the nice little pot that's there for you.

    Flop - :jc :3s :6d I raise 2/3 pot, Villian calls.

Right, I'm playing the hand for starters and I don't want the blinds to come along as they provide a nice bit equity if they fold and I don't want four more cards to dodge. So I'm raising.

The mimimum raise that would probably get rid of any nonsense from the blinds is c400 and that would leave me c1300 which commits me to betting the flop regardless.

On the plus side if I raise to 400 and get 2 calls the pot will be 1425 and I could push the flop regardless of how it comes and let a sandwich play take care of the first caller and hope the second guy missed it. If either of them hit the flop ir raise then I might have trouble, but I'm in position and I've demonstrated strength preflop so I'd fancy my chances.

I'm assuming here that they would both raise AQ+ and pokertracker should tell me this pf raise 8%+ I would hope.

On the other hand there is the push and given that I feel it's a coinflip or better Axs 88 etc then it's not a bad move either.

It would totally depend on the table, but the 400 raise has the potential to win a decent pot based on the other two missing the flop (with even more potential if I actually hit the flop myself) so I'll say raise to 400 would be my choice.

It's time to make a play and this looks like a decent spot, I'd expect to go broke here about 40% of the time as I'm in a spot of bother with chips and there are a lot of ways to get beat, but the other 60% I'd be looking to get my stack up to 2700 or more and back to a bit of safety. If I'm going down I'm going down swinging.

I would push this everytime, especially at a loose/passive table.
I'd love to be able to increase my stack by 30% with AJ and I'm not too keen on seeing a flop, especially against multiple opponents.

Does nobody else small a rat from UTG+1?

eg Limp and hope for raise with aa/kk.?
A raise of 2bb isnt going to push either of them out, and much more commits you anyway... I think the key is whether or not you think UTG+1 is going to limp here with AA/KK or not.

Alex says UTG+1 is a loose limper, so I think I'd prefer to push.

obv. you are playing the hand, you have about 10bb's left and you have AJo, you have seen much of the table act allready and there is a good ammount of dead money in the pot. this is a clear push, as you stand to win t525 immediately, and even if you are called (you are called much less than 50% of the time) you probably have a good chance of a double up, which looking at your stack you need.
