I was playing a $1/2 holdem game in a casino last weekend. My table image was probably tight because a lot of times when i raised on the turn people would fold. But whatever. here is the hand that made me want to cry, but I got over it quickly it was only 1 hand and I had a ton of chips.
I dont know the exact seating position right of hand, I believe i was the 6 (mp1?) player from the button. I believe it was 9 handed at that time. I was dealt pockets 8's.
Blinds $.50/1, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, hero raises, 2 fold, CO and Button call, sb folds, bb calls, UTG & UTG+1 calls.
I believe there was $10.50 in the pot at that time. Flop comes J/J/9. I am thinking I am in good position, the only people that would call would be a weak j or a straight draw, or of course a higher pair. bb check, utg checks, utg+1 bets, hero raises, co calls, button folds, bb folds, utg folds, utg+1 calls.
Pot 16.50.
At this point, I have a feeling im a dog, at least 1 jack out there.
Turn comes up its what I need an 8. I got the boat. I was ahead. My thought process was, If both of them have a jack im ahead with the boat and was in the driver seat.
UTG+1 checks, Hero Bets, CO calls, UTG+1 folds. Well, I know who has the jack now or a higher pair.
Pot 22.50
Here is where I think I messed up and would like to get people opinion.
The river is another 8, I got quad 8s. I want to try to trap him into more chips. I check expecting him to bet only because now he has the highest full house.
CO bet, Hero raises, CO raises, Hero caps.
Pot $38.50 minus rake, estimate 35.50 take
I flip over my cards quad 8's, only to be beaten by quad j's.
First off, did i miss play this hand or was i just beat. TIA. (ALso, i hope this makes sense and I calculated everything right.)
