hey guys
i have been playing poker for 2 years and i play quite well and recently after a small deposit of 20 dollars i managed to build it up to 420 dollars
i was really happy and decided to play in some cash games to end the day...
here is what happened on the worst hand of my life
my hand: QQ
Opponent: ?
blinds are 3/6
i raise to 24 dollars and he calls pre flop
flop: Q 6 2
i bet 30 dollars
he goes all in
i call obviously...
he shows AK
turn: J
river: 10
then i start smashing up my computer in frustration!!
i am seriously wondering if 888poker is a rigged site because surely no one can get that unlucky?
now i seriously want to continue playing but that was my entire bankroll and i was planning on entering a Major event...
i'm just so depressed right now...

Yea that kinda stuff is bullshit.....I don't get why people like that get the wins.
Not to bring you down or anything but you were playing way out of your bankroll. You should have been sitting with $600 minimum, and you want 20xbuyins $12,000 in this case.
Thats really rough, and I'll never understand why people would make those dumb calls. But those dumb calls we are supposed to win on in the long run.Last edited by Jarr3tt88; 01-16-2012 at 11:15 AM.

Pretty sure you know this now, but everything lost in one hand is very bad BRM. Good luck on the rebuild?

These are the best fools to play against that bets off their stack on a draw/complete crap. Only problem is, like me, your luck is always on their side. Play the lower limits so you can afford hits to your bankroll like this.

Pretty sick, but you really shouldn't dump your whole roll on a table, ever. It's suicide. Even if it's all from $20. You should be playing $25 buy in games, not an entire bankroll dump table.

sometimes poker is a sick game, and we all know that and thats why we keep going back to it. This can happen in live games.
BUT however i have noticed with 888,I have been in many tourneys where the 2 chip leaders get put on the same table, and both wake up with AA v KK and is all pre flop so leaves the tourney with a out right chip leader,it doesnt seem to happen as much on cash tables, but we have all seen this type of stuff, online or live...its just one of those things that come with this game we love called.....poker.

doesn't matter how you lost, what matters is that you couldn't afford it. like people say, you were playing at very big stakes. i can't believe you play for 2 years, you make 420 from 20 dollars and then you make the most basic mistake, playing at stakes you can't afford losing to ( cuz guess what you might be the best of players, but it's only a matter of time when you'll get really unlucky and lose )
next time think about all of the work it took to turn 20 into 420

This.
From experience (not trying to sound condescending), the absolute most important part of winning at poker is bankroll management. The truth is, if you play enough, there are times when you're going to lose 20 buy-ins in a row, so you can guess how easy it is to lose 1.

I agree with pretty much everyone else. The keys to a successful poker career are money management, playing against weaker competition, and quality sleep. Hopefully, you have two out of three. But you should NEVER risk your entire bankroll in one session. The best tips for consistent wins in poker that I have found is Sustainable Wins in 1/2 No Limit. You can Google it. It's an eBook.

How can a player all-in with AKQ hoping for J 10 it's a very very rare chance. Hope it's not a set up.
