ok so im in a sit and go 45 man tourney. bb on me and theres a guy who makes empty rases all the time at the table. seems to rase 4 times the blinds. he does this on my big blind. i thought to myself he seems to do it to everybody. lets see if i can push him off with ak. i go all in. he waits for a minute and calls ( i would of rather steal his blind than get a call with ak) so he shows ace 7. at this point im ahead. he flops trips 7 5 7 then ace ( gives him full boat ) then was a 2.
all in all i know i should of mabe called his rase and seen the flop mabe for a king or a ace but i kinda knew he had a week ace. he play any ace ( a2 and stuff )
lesson learned though

You played it just fine. He is an idiot. You should look forward to having this guy at your table in the future. Luck will only get him so far.

AK you can go all in, but it depends on your stack size and the blinds.....full hand history?

I can't tell you (the OP) how much I wanna Quote the heck out of Ipokergood For pwnaging Truth.
I've played against this type of player once, he got me bad beat and I lost half of my chip stack (which was a big deal because I had 3 times the buy-in).
I targeted him for utter destruction and by the end of it, I got back my money and busted him out of the game. You see, by losing to him, I also saw his hand and I started noticing how he played. So I used that against him and I got a note on him for the future as well. So think of these bad beats as a potential investment of information.
He was basically a fish - no strike that, he was a whale - he just had one lucky hand. But Lady Luck has an excellent way of getting her period every single day of the month. You felt it this time, but your opponent is gonna feel it ten times multiplied - hopefully by yourself one day.Last edited by Khaile; 06-14-2011 at 11:15 AM.

When you ask whether ace king is a hand you go all in you have answered your own question your read was the guy was a fish there are only really KK AA that got you in terrible shape although any pair could be tricky too but you knew the most likely thing he had was a weak ace and so you got him to put his money across the line with a far weaker hand, congratulate yourself on a good read and putting money across the line preflop. It makes me think of the amount of times I've been drawn against the odds and suffered similar beats when I have a read and my advice is don't let it worry you or right down the number of times you win against the times you lose you'll be ahead far more often than you realise its just beats sting a bit so are more memorable. Put it this way KK is definately a hand you would go all in on but you would have been utterly crushed even with KK in this spot so sometimes against some players you know AK is weak but against guys like this its very much an all in hand I would say, I always think its worth playing your good hands aggressively especially vs fish. Think you were about a 4:1 favourite at time money went in.

flat call pre flop, then when he bets the flop your decision is easy, AK is a good hand but not a made hand, i think in some cases its over played!!

There is no absolute right way to play any given hand. You have to mix up your play so your hard to read. Your play with the AK seems very resonable thouugh.
