King sized headache
So I was playing a poker tourney and having a great run. Four hands won in a row. Fifth hand Pocket kings. Here is the fifth win I think to myself.
Now anybody who is good at poker will tell you one thing. You have pocket kings and you bet, you never call. However there was only four players on the table at this time and at least two were tight so I decided to slowplay.
Player one folded. Player two, me, checked. Players Three and Four called the check. (or also checked as it were.) Flop 4 8 A rainbow. Now this is why you don't slow play kings. An ace is danger.
The betting started and at the end one player had folded and it was me and the last player. However I was facing a second reraise. Now as the bigger stack of the two I was not worried about going broke but I was sure he had an ace. (or at the outside a strong pocket pair with a bit of bluffing.)
What to do lay down the kings, play the odds of hitting a third. (slim)
In the end I laid them down but a strong bet pre flop would have won the blinds for me.
(I only have myself to blame.)
