I contemplated that, and at the end of the hand wished I had but at the time I was being greedy and was thinking that a straight call would get the 2nd guy in the pot whereas a shove would have probably seen him fold and the short stack's $2 would be all I could get.

Definitely at least a big 4bet PF if not all-in, you are decreasing your equity value by letting him into the pot cheaply, he could very well catch (this is supposing you don't know his cards yet) a set, 2 pair, straight, flush, a draw of some sort, lots of things that will slam you. AA rarely ever improves because the only things that do that are a set, 4-card straight or 4-card flush. That's why the best hands against AA are 56s, 67s, 78s and 89s; they all have 4 straights they can make without giving you a higher draw (9Ts would give you a draw if it came JQK), flushes of course, two pair, and trips.

Always raise and reraise PF with AA in cash games!!
