My point was that a couple people above acted as if he played it just fine.

You aren't going to find rocket scientists in the lower limits.

Hell, there are plenty of fish in the middle and upper limits. Some people just like to gamble and don't give a f***.

I've had plenty of idiots in all sorts of games call me with pocket 3's on a KJQ board and river their 3, or call my check-raise all-in with A8 on a 47K flop and then runner-runner their straights and so forth.

I've found it helps immensely to take a break from poker when you're suffering some horrendous beats.

Yes, in the long-run you'll get these peoples money, but the long-run can take quite awhile before it evens out, and you can really devestate yourself mentally if you don't step back.

I know it's hard, I"ve had trouble with it myself. But don't obsess over lost hands where your opponent was a complete douche. Focus on whether you made the correct play or not. If you did, that's all you can do, and you MUST move on, otherwise it'll eat you up thinking about it all the time.

I'm not defending this guys play too much but on the turn he can very well think he has 12 outs (as it happens, he did). If he's being really optimistic he can think 14 outs. 12 outs needs 2.8:1 and it was like 2.7:1 he was getting, so given the implied money he'll win when he sucks out it isn't that bad of a call.

His preflop and flop play is terrible though.

As an aside I don't like shoving the river there, I block bet and call when he pushes. Some of the weak hands they will call down with at this level will still pay off a smallish river bet while they can probably get away when you shove. These guys don't look at stack sizes they just look at the bet size.

In saying all that it was pretty sick

I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.

Ouch, some pretty rough hands in that post. In my defense, how I've been coolered:

Party 40K guaranteed:

Out of 2,000 -2,500 player fields I've finished:

50th
35th
28th
12th

When I went out in 28th we had just come back from a break. 4k/8k blinds, I'm down to 90k. Large stack raises to 36K, I push with AA. Another large stack in the blinds types "what is going on?" and re-raises to isolate. He's got KK. Flop is 225. Turn a 10. River the King. No triple up for me or a shot at the 9-11 grand for first place.

When I went out 12th I was down to 200K in chips in the BB with AQ. Blinds 15K/30K and folded to the SB who raises to 125K, I get it all-in natch. He's got AK, thanks for playing, no final table deal for me. I get 300 bucks for 12th out of 2,000+ players while someone who finishes just another 11 spots up gets 10 grand. I freaking hate tournament payouts.

I mostly multi-table Omaha hi/lo cash games. If you know anything about this game, it's that middle cards are horrible (6's through 10's, but especially 7's through 9's)

Anyway, two freaking days in a row I raise with AAxx where I'm suited and have low cards. Both days I get called by fish playing junk (699K and 5779 if I recall correctly)

Both days by the turn I have the nut full house AND redraws to a low for half the pot. Both days my idiot opponents have made quad's by the turn and both days my lows don't get there.

I took a break of almost a week from poker after that, it was so sickening. But I got back on my horse and continued playing.

Yeah, it sucks losing huge pots to idiots, but they're the ones who are making poker profitable for you in the end. Believe me, I know it's tough to deal with that shit, but it's part of the game and you'll need to learn to move past it (I still haven't mastered that, since I obviously remember those beats from a year+ ago)

Best wishes

Yeah, in hindsight I am ashamed of myself for that river push.
